Weaver style scope rings

I am in the market for some 1'' low Weaver style scope rings. I bought a cheap set at Wal-Mart the other day and they are currently in the trash can. So someone give me a suggestion on a good set to buy. Thanks

Most all of the major scope makers make Weaver type rings.  Weaver, Leupold, Burris, Warne, for example, all make a quality product.  Stay away from the cheap $9.95 Walmart specials and you should do fine.

Burris Zee rings work well, won't break the bank and are easy to lap.  ;)

I'll agree about the cheap Walmart rings. I've seen them break, screws strip, or just not tighten enough to hold. I'd recommend just buying Weaver-style rings from Weaver. They're reasonable enough.
I never cared for aluminum rings or mount clamps, even though most manufacturers tend to carry or prefer them anymore.
Those quick-release rings make me nervous too, though my brother has a set and has had reasonable success removing and replacing them (some states allow you to muzzleloader hunt with scopes, while others don't, so removing and replacing may be necessary)
Your scope is only as good as it's rings and base. Something to remember.

Leupi makes a set that's permanent...or rather they are installed and cannot be removed without a torque wrench (no thumb screws).  I also have a set of QD rings and QD mounts for a sako (special mount system) and they do make me nervous...so I keep checking them for tightness and well..they're as tight as when I mounted them.

Leupold PRW rings are great rings, but more expensive at well over $40, they're easy to lap also, but lows are nearly twice as tall as the Burris if you want true low rings, .230" compared to .130".

Well decided to go with the Leupold PRW rings. Just ordered them from Midway. They were even on sale. Saved me a whole four dollars and change. ;D

Good choice!! To ease the process of pushing the caps on the scope tube, you can wrap a piece of paper around the tube, they snap on a little easier, then slip the cap around the tube as you remove the paper, backing from pressure sensitive labels works well because it's slick and a little tougher than plain paper.  ;)
