Hi from Idaho
« on: August 22, 2010, 07:49:15 PM »
Hello. I am an old retired codger who just recently took up shooting again and am loving it as I did when I was younger. Stumbled upon the great H&R/NEF and am loving them. I now have two 17HMR's, two 22 Magnums and my old Winchester 60a. I guess this means I am addicted as most of you seem to be:)
I also have a Charter Arms 38 Special/357 I just acquired.
I've been lurking and reading for some time and do appreciate all the great info everyone posts but I do have a question if someone could help. I'm sure it is simple if you know how but I don't so here goes. I have a 17 that is striking the CCI's too lightly and have started to get some misfires because of it. I want to take the gun apart and give it a good cleaning and see if that helps or if I see something that may be the problem. My question is, how do you break down the gun. I don't want to start banging on pins not knowing what I'm doing. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the internet home of a great bunch of folks and a few old farts.
Hope your time here is enjoyable.

You might try googling the manufacturer's website and see if they have the owners manual online.
What brand and model is it?

Hi, the rifle is the NEF 17hmr. I have been all over the website and can't find anything that will help. The "manual" I got with the 22 mag didn't have anything useful in it either.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will keep looking I guess or maybe call H&R.

Hi, the rifle is the NEF 17hmr.

Check with the guys down in NEF/H&R forum.
They are a real helpful bunch.
