Went into the Fort to pick up the wife this evening. Got there about 15 to five, and as I drove past the parade ground saw the troops loading the cannon. Now michelle's office window faces the parade ground. Just a street right next to the building seperates the Parade ground from her building. The canon is only like 20 yards from her window. Every evening at five the canon goes off reguler as clock work. She has been working in that office for 13 years. You would think by now she would be ready and not get upset when the canon is fired.
I was sitting in her office where she was explaining a claim to one of the Attorneys, when the canon fired. Michelle screamed, threw the folder she had in her hands straight up to the ceiling. She kicked back from her desk, and was in total panic. You could just tell her blood pressure was going through the roof. We were expecting her to have a heart attack she was so scared. Then she went to cussing the canon, then the troops that shoot the canon, then the Army, then herself for not being ready.
I quitely slipped out the door and headed for my truck. As I passed an office one of the other women that works there looked at me and said "They got her again, they catch her not ready two or three times a week". "That canon scares the XXXX out of her". "You would think she would set her clock to 4:55 so she could be ready when it went off, but oh no, she screams and goes through the roof".
Now I know why she is wound up so tight some evenings when she comes home. She needs to retire. Glad I'm not high strung like that. After 33 years I think it's funny when I open a can of biscuits, and they go pop, she jumps standing there watching me. When the can goes pop it scares her, even with her knowing it's going to happen. No wonder she has Ulcers, and all kinds of nervous disorders.
