Years ago it was legal in VA to hunt deer in blackpowder season with a pistol , as long as the pistol met the same requirements as the rifle...ie...caliber...muzzle energy..etc. At that time, the only pistol available, to my knowledge, that met the requirements was the TC Scout. Which pistol I had and used with great success, and still love to shoot. About 10 years + or - , the regs were rewritten and changed from"muzzle loading weapon" to read "muzzle loading rifle" This effectively elimanated BP Pistol hunting. i enquired with the game commision about the change and was told that it was not done intentionally to elimanate pistol hunting. I was also told that no one had ever asked about BP pistol hunting and that upon request, they saw no reason why the change couldn't be reversed. I MADE SAID REQUEST. They told me that the regs were written or changed every two years and it would come up then. My request was either lost or denied, I never heard. About this time I went thru divorce, job change and moved residence and a whole lot of stuff got pushed aside unfortunately. I,ve never checked on it since. Sorry to say I can't remember indivdual I talked with, but it was somebody at the Richmond level. I,d bet we could mount considerable support to change this now if we all got together. GOOD SHOOTIN', Walt
