The reloading guy at the local shop was out of large rifle primers but said he had many people using magnum primers in a lot of non-magnum loads, and said the Winchester Magnums would work well in the 45-70. I am expecting to load the 405 grain JSP to about what the factory loads are for this bullet, and probably also some 300 grain JHP load near the factory spec for that bullet. There may also be some 405 grain lead bullets to medium levels. Powder will be Rel 7, 4198, 3031. The rifle will be a Ruger #3, a H&R Handi Rifle SB2, and an H&R Shikari, which is limited to trap door level loads. Does anybody have any concern or advice about using magnum primers for these loads and guns?
Thanks!
