Post war Geha 1898 action 14 or 16 guage
« on: August 27, 2010, 06:06:10 AM »
I have a post WW1 Geha which is a remod from a Mauser 1898 action to either a 14 or 16 Ga. 2 shot. The bore is clean but the barrel has pits. Everythng functions and I would like to know if there is a market for this set up.

Not really much of a market. Geco and Remo did a lot of these modifications to standard 98's. More of a novelty than any thing else. Much like what the germans did,it was a quick expedient to get shotguns back in the hands of the public. As you can see by playing with it they are rather cumbersome, but kinda fun to play with.

These were made after WWI from converted Gew98's to help stimulate the German economy.
The smaller guages (16 and 20) are actually better shotguns to have, as the 12's required removing so much material from the receivers, that it made them relatively weak, thereby limiting the use of higher power loads in them. The 16's and 20's are more desireable, and generally harder to find. Is your functional and complete?
The 12's usually go around $150-$225 or so, depending on condition.

It could be a starting point for someone who wants to build a slug shotgun with rifled barrel.

I found a couple of geha actions at a garage sale for free. Was sad to see a 98 action so butchered. They are laying in my toy room collecting dust.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.
