« on: August 27, 2010, 06:55:00 PM »
Ok I have my 243 Encore pistol set up now Im curious if anyone uses a Encore Pistol to just plink with and what caliber do you use? I was thinking a 22 in a 15" barrel, what would be the pros and cons to this set up?

That could be true besides I think it would be fun not to mention cheap and it keeps you in tune with your pistol.

I have to agree with the others.  A rimfire barrel is nice when you just want ot go out and shoot some groups and only have the barrel to clean up rather than another pile of brass to reload.

Lets see some pics of your 22 plinkers rather it be a Encore or Contender. Im thinking this will be much better than a 10/22 and alot more fun.

My pleasure.  Here are three ways I have fun with .22rf Contenders:  16.25 inch carbine, Super 14 with 2.5-10x50 rifle scope, and a nice handy and relatively light 10" octagon barrel.

I also have 22 revolver, Ruger MkIII 22/45, Remington 582 bolt and a Ruger 10/22.  It's just hard to beat a 22 for fun, especially with swinging or reactive targets.

Food for thought...cheapest shot for a 22 long rifle is around 4+cents these days :'(   Cast your own bullets with wheel weights, add a primer a touch of powder and for almost no additional cost you get to shoot something with a little more boom and a lot more ;D ;D ;D

Good luck,
