12 gauge short shotgun
« on: August 29, 2010, 03:38:30 AM »
Ok, I've been working on this for a couple of weeks.  I had the barrel cut to 19" and threaded for Colonial choke tubes.  I replaced the wooden forearm with a survivor forearm, and replaced the wooden stock with a tamer stock.  With the tamer stock it kicked so hard I couldn't hold on to it, so I changed it to a plain synthetic and that helped considerably.  I carry two extra rounds, a LED light, fire sparker, tinder, and a compass in the forearm.  Im using this as my go to the camp/truck gun. I think it should work out pretty well. My advice to anyone who is considering a short shotgun project is, use a 20 gauge.

 Nice set up.
I have a shorty 12 and in the middle(painted barrel this morning) of a 20 pardener. Going to scope this one and see if it will throw slugs, like others have done here.

I thought about putting a scope on it, but being a truck gun I wanted it as durable as possible.  I'm still thinking maybe some Williams sights though.

I got one in 12 ga I keep around the house with #4 for pests.  barrel cut to 19 in and one of those cheapie plastic clip on day glo front sites.  it kicks like a mule, I would go with the 20 ga as well next time.

I've got shorty's in 12 and 20ga.
The 20 has fiber optic rifle sights on it and the 12 has a scope rail and red dot.
I shoot the 20 all the time... the 12 collects alot of dust. You can probably guess why. :D
