I took mine to 460S&W, there was a lot more reamer turning than in the 357Max, close to an hour IIRC, I suspect the Casull will be more work too. The 30-30AI and 270AI both took a lot less time on to finish.

Tim: I know that I will still able to shoot 45lc if I ream to .454,I think I read that you also have a 454 does it still shoot well with 45lc after you ream it?

I don't have a Casull, but those that have them and the 460 shoot the shorter rounds in them just like they do with the Maxi, I haven't shot Colt or Casull rounds in the 460 yet.

I don't have a Handi but do have a 460 S&W mag Encore. It shoots the 45 LC's and the 454 Casulls great. Just that they all have a different POI.

Sorry didnt want to hyjack the other thread, figured I would get a couple quick questions in.......But thanks Tim

Thanks kynardsj, You all have me thinking about making my BC-Carbine into a 454,and if it still shoots 45lc as good as it does now would make it that much more versatile,..also I have a lot of 45lc brass and zero 454 brass.

anybody with a handi out there thats been reamed to 454 whats your opinion?

last year i did one of my carbines to casull. and it turned out to be a strong shooter  ;D
i also did one to .460 and i perfer it over the casull for accuracy using the same loads
that my handguns do. same as my 45colt carbine
i also have not tried any 45's in the casull or casull in the .460

ream away to casull, you will like it. or go .460 and do'um all !!! ;D

i believe that "revbc" just did his to casull recently and likes it :)

Tim, I meant that I made you do a search for me,when I searched I never seen that post.......I used your link to read the post thanks..........

Thanks gendoc you might be right, maybe you could throw a couple 45lc's out of the 460 for accuracy, one of these days, maybe send me a Pm?

If they shoot well out of 460 I would probably go that route, and be truly versatile....Thanks

Yeah, I figured that out after I replied!!  ::) :-[ ;D I have an advantage since I can sometimes remember members who have posted on topics, if you add a user name to the search, it works much better.  ;) I knew John and Bobby had posted on them, but left them the opportunity to post their own replies, CW doesn't is busy playing with other toys this time of year and doesn't visit much.

Just recently reamed my 45lc carbine to casull.  It's about 30 minutes worth of reaming going slow.  A lot more than the few minutes it took to go to maxi on the 357.  The reamer may have been a little dull, it didn't seem to cut as smooth as the reamer I had for the maxi.  I rented the casull  reamer from 4D, borrowed the 357 from a member on here.

As far as accuracy goes, I haven't shot it a lot, but don't really see any difference in accuracy in either the casull or colt, only a point of impact change.  This is due to the faster casull which will actually shoot to a lower point of aim.  Decided to go with the casull, because I already have a 45/70 so I didn't need the extra power or recoil in such a light handy handi. ;D

Oh, and the reamer I had actually enlarged the diameter of the rim cut ever so slightly, maybe .001-.002.  Maybe not that much, just guessing.

That's my story............ ;)

I also like the idea of having stronger brass and using  a small rifle primer in the starline brass.  Also I like aa1680 powder which seems to do a good job in both my 357max and 454 casulll.  The more components that are universal the better I like it.

I'm here guys!!

 Yes I have a 454 that I re-chambered form a 45Colt.

Mine shoots well but since the re-chamber doesn't like the same loads it did before the re-chamber. BUT that's part of the fun!! I found some new loads that shoot just as well!!

Good luck with it!!

Thanks DP, sorry I missed you question.... YES 4-D is where I rented the reamer from.

I have been shooting this a bit this year as well as hunting with it. its a very good shooter. I had some forend work to do as I swapped on some factory syn stocks to it just before the season and the POI changed as the forend was a bit too tight. Some easy sanding fixed that rite quick.  ;)
