I don't live in Illinois any more but while going to visit my mother in Southern Illinois a couple of weeks ago, the power lines along country roads seemed loaded with doves so you should have a good season.  I used to spend a lot of time shooting at doves over cut over corn fields and at water holes.  Notice I said shooting at.  On days when there was no wind I did pretty good but when the wind was blowing my average quickly went to pot. :D

Had the 870 Wingmaster out of the safe just the other day. Local numbers are good but could always use a cold front to send them on down here. Temperatures have been more seasonal so I expect some good shooting.

I'm thinking of going to green river Wednesday but I don't know if they're flying up here yet.

Couldn't go. Have to pick up my daughter, plus it's raining more than I want to sit in. Let us know how you did.

I got out today. 3 1/2 hours and I only saw two birds. >:(

It was really windy though and it was nice to get out. I did get one of them.

Nice, I was in M. A is usually a good one but there were already people heading there. I'm hoping to go back next week when you can hunt all day instead of just noon til 5.

I signed up for the free hunt at Des Plaines and Iroquois. They're a bit closer to me. It is a two hour drive for me to go to Green River.

Oh yeah, I got skunked yesterday. 5- birds all day and 7-misses. :(

As previously noted I have not dove hunted in Illinois for over twenty years.  Just out of curiosity are the shooting hours still from noon till dark.  I never could figure that one out or get a reasonable answer from anyone about it.  I was in South Western Illinois this last weekend and the farmers were all picking corn and there seemed to be a lot of doves in the air and on power lines along the country roads I was on.

I'm in Cicero. Thanks for the offer but I don't shoot the 357 max. Now if you've got some 454 laying around..... ;D
