Rainy day project
« on: August 29, 2010, 09:31:59 PM »
When all the grandkids were here in May, they told me that they wanted some golf ball mortars. So I built a couple of K.I.S.S. mortars for them this afternoon.

Now to make some bases....

;D...Those look great, the grandkids should love them! They can use your help in learning safe firing practices! BoomLover

stamp them on the muzzle face with their name on top and manufacturing year at the bottom
it will make them more personal

I don't believe that!  I'm going to get second opinion from Joann.   :)

I have always like the KISS Mortar, DD.  Those look really nice. I bet they will be enjoyed.  I bet you already knew that Mike and I borrowed an element or two from the  KISS  design as we were designing our big French Paixhans Monster Mortar.  The best designs are very frequently the simplest.

I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

I have made 6 of these things now.

I thought the one I made last spring would be my last and for me.  I loaned it to Phyllis and Jim at Ben Franklin when their grandson was here and now they want it.

I am doing the excel spread sheet for making a standard pattern coehorn out of the pizza oven axle South Paw and I got last spring.  Maybe I can keep that one.
