H & R arms Double Action Revolver
« on: August 30, 2010, 12:18:56 PM »
My father bought me an H & R arms DA Revolver (.38 S&W). I called H & R and they told me that the weapon was so old that they did not have any records of these guns, as they went bankrupt in 1987 and lost all records. The serial number does not start with a letter so they said it was made prior to 1940. that is all the info I have currently on it. If anyone is familiar with this company and can help that would be great. I have scoured the internet and have not found much about the beautiful piece of history. It is stamped on the top with H&R ARMS COMPANY WORCHESTER, MASS, U.S.A. Thanks!

Is this a solid frame or a hinged/break open type?  What is the exact stamping on the top of the barrel rib?
What is the serial number?  Answer these questions and we can provide LOTS of information.

Pictures help.   Pics of the entire gun, closer pics of the stampings, and descriptions on where they are on the gun.   With that we can get you to an exact model and a general span of years of production.
