Swift standard grade scopes.
« on: December 04, 2003, 09:10:50 AM »
I've heard Swift scopes are a good value however the scope I want 6x18x44 is only available in standard grade.  The Premier  6x24x50 is to big for my taste on a 223.  Does anybody have any experience with the standard grade scopes?

I'm not a big fan of Swift scopes.  I consider them to be a bit better than Simmons, but that doesn't say much.  The reason I say this is because I have some experience with them.  Specifically, the tracking was not very good, and that was on a relatively light kicking rifle - a .270 Winchester.  Granted, your .223 is a lighter recoiling rifle, but still - if you can spend a little bit more, you can get a better scope.

Mattkc :  I had a Swift 4x12 with adj. obj.  that went bad and when I bought it I was at a gun show a few years ago, it went bad and I sent it back to co. for repair or replacement, it took them 8 weeks to return and it was replaced with a 3x9 no adj obj.  and said the 4x12 model I had was no longer in production, short part of this is I would not advise anyone to purchase a Swift scope anymore and I used to talk them up but I am still waiting their response to a letter I have sent them in reguards to the scope not being replased with what I sent them It was used on a specific rifle and the power ranges is what I purchased not just their name . :(  :D   JIM
