Barrel shortening for a Tracker?
« on: September 03, 2010, 03:14:54 AM »
Barrel shortening....I'll bet you were thinking of Crisco for guns! ;D  Actually, I'd love to have the Tracker in maybe a 3" (whatever you end up with after cutting off the porting) to make a really nice .44 Special carry gun...a poor man's 696?  I just sold my little piece pictured at the left mainly because I hate the porting.  Anyone had this done or know a smith with a hacksaw or cuttin' torch?
thanks in advance!

I had the same thought a while back.  Couldn't find a 696 that the seller didn't want an unreasonable amount for.  So I bought a 2 inch SS Tracker.

After working out a few quality control issues and months of dealing with Taurus's (lack of) customer service, all documented here,  >:(  I am happy with the revolver. It is as accurate as can be expected for a snub-nose and with 240 gr. WFN bullets @ 900 fps it will do anything I would ever need it to do!   ;D
