I walked into a dealers showroom and noticed that he had a spankin' new Marlin 1895SBL sitting on the rack. I don't know why but it followed me home.
I removed the scope and Burris Signature Zee rings from my 45-70 ProHunter and slid them onto the extended rail of the Marlin. Scope mounted nice and low. Sight acquisition if fast. However, the VX3 1.5x5 is close enough to the hammer that my thumb barely fits.
What do you suggest - Use higher Burris Zee rings or just add a hammer extension?
