Something new...... & I got lucky! & it's a small world!
« on: September 06, 2010, 07:36:19 AM »
I went to a muzzle loader site I don't go to often and there was a 2 day old add for a fowler  barrel and a grenade launcher barrel for 225.00 shipped
the fowler barrel was already sold but no bites on the grenade launcher barrel, I emailed him and found it was still available it was a TRS barrel
a company known for their long long wait times for getting anything from them, it arrived from N.Y.in a box with reprints of a 1776 Virginia gazette
as packing, the type Colonial Williams burg prints I emailed him that the packing material would be used in an old hide trunk I had and would not go
to waste,  he told me that  a friend works at Colonial Williams Burg had made him something and had packed the item full of news paper for shipping,
it turns out that his friend is the brother of a housewright who is a friend of mine from C.W. small world......

Sorry no powder can, it is 8" long from the breech to muzzle and 10 1/2" long to the iron tang.

The bore is 2 1/2"  now I have to go through my antique locks and and hard ware and get this thing built.  ;D

A TRS finished kit, included the image to show what it should look like finished.

I saw that available!  They're neat guns, and I've thought of making one.  I've seen one made by John Buck that was shooting tennis balls pretty well.  Have fun!

Nice buy, Allen! Is the hole to the chamber already drilled on these pieces, or do you have to do it when you're positioning the lock?
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

Boom J,

The barrel is undrilled which is good if you are planning to stock and use a lock other than theirs.

Gcbp,
Now that's what I'd call mint condition.

Allen, would you describe, or point out where the powder chamber bottom is located, as if a line were marked on the outside of the barrel?
