How much bacon is too much?

The fancy grocery store near me has a breakfast bar. I figured out that I can buy really good cooked bacon there for far less than it costs me to buy uncooked bacon. I have been eating about 3/4lb a day. I no longer eat anything else for breakfast. Bacon and coffee, that's it. Cholesterol was 154 this spring, who knows next spring? I am eating some now on spagetti for dinner.

 Every few months or so I go nuts and buy a pound of bacon, a bag of thin stick pretzels and a bag of chocolate chips.

 Cook up the bacon extra crispy and break it up, crumble the pretzels some, melt the chocolate in a double boiler and mix it all together. Spoon it out in clumps on a piece of wax paper and let it cool.

 They're sayin' dark chocolate is good for your heart now, so I figure it's a wash...

  Any Muslim, Jew or porker will tell you..1/10th of a grain is too much..only a jest guys; don't get hyper ;)

   Actually, if your cholestrol level will take it..enjoy the bacon; that much would probably spell d-e-a-t-h for me. :D

     Still, don't overlook the need for "balanced" meals.. 

         How many times have you heard we old guys say; " If I had ever thought I would live this long, I would have taken better care of myself".      There IS some truth in that..

You ain't had bacon till you have tried good ole Texas Chicken fried bacon.  It is battered raw, deep fried and served with a big of gravy for dipping...............heart clogging, but sure good.

The best indication that you've had too much bacon is when you decide to take a dirt nap after a big meal of it.

ironglow  yeah  my old grandad said that when lighting a smoke after a bacon and eggs breakfast
at age 99.  He died a week after the resthome made him quit smoking.

This past weekend, fixed my all time favorite summer cookout meal. Hunky Turkey. About a 2# chunk of smoked jowl bacon, wood fire, veggies from the garden. OH yea, got to have cold beer. Let your fire burn down, put the bacon on a long fork, hold over the fire till it starts to drip. Fresh Jewish rye or French bread, sliced about 3/4'' thick. Let the bacon drip on the bread, and after it gets kinda soaked, put sliced tomatoes,green peppers, hot peppers on the bread. But, you keep dripping the fat on the bread, in between layers of veggies. The bacon will become cooked, and slow down the dripping, that's when you take a knife, and cut off the bottom layer, to expose new fat/meat, putting the cooked bacon on the bread.  After about 3-4 slices, you can feel your heart rate slow down, but, if you've down it right, you've had a few beers in the mean time, you don't care. Fall asleep in the hammock. Now, if you ask me how it got named Hunky Turkey, don't have a clue. My dad, and all the hunky's in Birmingham,(that's East Toledo) called it since I was a kid. gypsyman

It's a shame that things that taste good are typically bad for you.  If it wasn't like it is I could live off of bacon :).  As it is I typically only have it about once every other month or so - when I do indulge though I'll eat at least 7-8 slices. 

My true weakness though is fried shrimp.  They're high in cholesterol too, but oh so good . . .   ;D

I started eating Sausage everymorning for breakfast about six months ago.  Been in the Hospital four times in the lawst four weeks, with four new stints.  Gave up the sausage.  Bacon is just as bad.  No more for me.
