Obama has psychologically collapsed to the point where he is using a teleprompter even for private meetings in the Oval Office. His reliance on the device came up in coverage of his miserable Iraq War "victory" speech last week. At the end of a discussion with two journalists, a normally friendly Chris Matthews (CNBC) took a turn and unexpectedly brought up the topic, saying that, although he was a big Obama supporter, "if he doesn't get rid of the damned teleprompter..." at which point smiles broke out on the otherwise stoic faces his guests. Matthews called the device a "menace," saying "he's just reading words now," and that, "it's separating him from us." He said that he had been told that in a meeting with "businessmen," Obama had "hauled out the teleprompter," and literally read to his guests. Not having come to the realization of the true mental state of Nero the chief, Matthews said he should "use his heart and mind," instead of the machine.

Obama's reliance on the device has, of course, been the butt of critics for some time, with videos of him sending the teleprompter as an ambassador on foreign trips, and using it with the family at nightly dinners. As to rumors that one has been installed in the Lincoln bedroom, those have not been confirmed at the time of this writing.

Actually no. It's not the Globe. Chris Matthews does not write for the  Globe.  moreover, Obama's use of teleprompters in private meetings is well documented.

Well if that's true, it's the end of health care. I doubt the current high court would allow mandatory health care, and getting something under your skin which would also of course be mandatory.

I think it's good news if it's true. Mandatory health care might not have stood up in the high court, we'll see, but mandatory micro chips along with that should kill the whole deal for sure.  Might be against someone's religion ya know.

I dunno Jimster, I'm not so sure that we can trust the high court, Its only a five to four margin. Life as we know it is being upheld by a one vote skinny ledge. These judges are there for life and the Socialist put two, count em 2 leftist onboard this past year. If someone dies or retires soon we are toast!

Hmmm... I don't see evidence of any of those, but maybe I'm not well-informed. How do you come to the conclusion that the President is... stupid? Apart from your ideological predilection?

Any one who has witnessed what has happened to the economy of this country and the continual destruction of the private sector in the past year and a half and doesn't see something wrong with this man is not informed, well or other wise!

What would the purpose be? One flu shot and the records are out of date. Medical records are in ridiculous shape IMHO. I can't believe how many doctors keep thick paper files and take months to transcribe the records on request. Yes I lost my kid's yellow card and replacing it was hell.

Just to simplify things, the only time it makes sense to put information on a device that does not expire is when that information is static. Why do passports expire? If you are a citizen of the US when you are 2 weeks old, you are still a citizen when you are 102. Because the information on there changes. Why don't Social Security cards expire? Because that information does not change.

We already have static features to identify us. Fingerprints, retina, DNA, etc. Someday, all of that will be registered for every newborn.

No need for a strip implanted in your forehead.

I seem to recall when he said they "acted stupidly" when in reality he spoke "stupidly" which lead to the beer summit. I also seem to recall when he said he had been to 57 States. Then there's picking Biden & not buying a muzzle, just a few things for fun.

 And like most rumors you read on the internet its kinda whacky and probably false. In fact,one of the reasons I know its false is there is no government run health care system other than Medicare,and thats not a government run system,but rather government provided insurance,the doctors are private doctors just like any other.

 There was the idea of a government run insurance program to compete with private insurance. That was killed because it was decided that it would be so incredibly cheap and efficient that private insurance would not be able to compete and would go out of business. That would have been a real problem,because if private insurance went out of business,then the only thing left would be the government run insurance that would be so filled with red tape and so inefficient that it would cost 2-10x what private insurance would cost and would make people wait for care for months or even years.  No,that's not contradictory at all. Anyone who would even suggest that must be a communist or socialist or fascist. And dont go bringing up the fact that communism and fascism are polar opposites....

 Its irrelevant becuase there is no national health care program. Read the bill. Its 2000 pages of the biggest font you have ever seen made for the eyes of old senators. What that means is that its a few hundred ACTUAL pages full of text and therefore anyone who can read can take a few hours and read it themselves instead of listening to crazy rumors someone makes up,or repeats on the internet. The first changes most people will see from it are a prohibition on denial of health care for children with preexisting conditions and the requirement that adults up to age 26 be allowed to remain on their parents insurance under certain circumstances. Additionally,I beleive the high risk insurance pools for people with preexisting conditions have already been implemented. This is a stopgap until the total prohibition of pre-existing conditions goes into effect. This program has been criticized becuase while the premiums are lower than you could be purchased otherwise,they are still rather high and many still cannot afford coverage.

 The fact is,anything anyone tells you about how the "Government run healthcare" is going to require some crazy condition to take part in,like getting a chip implanted,agreeing not to own a gun and turning all of yours in,or drinking goats blood on the Sabbath,or that it will do some crazy thing like round up and murder your grandparents,is false,not just becuase of the tinfoil hat predictions it makes,but becuase they IS NO GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTHCARE. (Well,except for medicare,and what the armed forces run,but those have been around for years)
