  There is a pastor in Florida who is bound he is going to lead his congregation into a "burn the Koran day". This is a boneheaded idea, for the following reasons;
1) The great commission says, "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature". Insulting potentials in such a way, won't help.
2) There are times when we should be "wise as a serpents and harmless as a doves", This doesn't fit!
3) Such an act will in no way help the situation, especially with any Muslims who feel inclined to be even handed and fair in dealing with the west.
4) Burning Korans would appear as childish and stupid to any thinking Muslim..the same reaction by thinking people here, when we see idiots rioting in streets, burning our fllag and "effigys' of western leaders.
5) Yes, they have a "right" to do such a thing, just a s flag burners and athiest, Christian suing lawyers  do...but the question is, SHOULD they do it?
6)  Burning Korans would be "an unnecessary provocation"..fully as unnecessarily provocative as building a "victory mosque" near ground zero.
  
       ..Such "in your face" actions are wrong when practiced by any group!

  my take is the guy is just looking for his 15 minutes.  burning korans?  i dont care one bit.  he has the right to act like a fool if he wants to, and i have alot less of a problem with him burning a few books than i do with some people protesting soldier's funerals.    this is america after all, and we have allowed one hell of a lot worse things to happen in the name of free speech.    they insult christians and jews to no end here, why should islam and muslims be any different?   
   i care not about the protests overseas.  people need to realize that here in america, you can say what you want WITHOUT having to worry about getting stoned to death.   and if muslims are so thin skinned that this ruins their day, then they better grow thicker skin. 
   i plan on eating a nice big pork sandwich to mark 9-11.  dont tell no one though, because i like being obscure and i dont want to offend any muslims out there.  not.    big. stinkin. deal.

I agree with Ironglow. I think this church is treading close to Westboro Baptist territory. No good will be accomplished, people will be offended, and the Great Commission certainly won't be furthered. In fact... this will probably make it harder for folks laboring in the 10-40 window, in/near Muslim populations.

Before I heard about the Panthers' threatening the church I thought this koran buring sounded rather childish.
I still think it sounds childish but now...I absolutely think they should go through with it if nothing more than to prove to to the world that freedom of speech and expression belongs to all people and not just to state and media sanctioned black hate groups.

Just a while ago while searching the net to see Shaabaaaz threatening the church for myself, I saw where just a few weeks ago he was threatening Glen Beck and the Tea Party and raving about how Beck should not be allowed to hold his rally at the Lincoln Memorial because Beck is a "sneaky white devil"

These people are dangerous they have already tried to take away certain peoples' right to vote and now they are going on record calling for certain peoples' free speech rights to be snuffed out and we all know damned well the Justice Department wont do a damned thing to stop them.

And I'll go a step further , it accomplishes nothing , and if 1 soldier or American civilian traveling abroad is killed in Afghanistan or other Muslim country over this stupid stunt they should try the preacher for negligent homicide and inciting a riot.

Gen. Petraeus has already weighed in and stated it will put our soldiers and civilians on the ground over there unnecessarily in more harms way.

Same with American Flag , yeah you can do it ..But I would like to knock the block off each protester that does.
My grandfather and family members died for that flag (and yes their right to so so) but it doesn't make it right to do it.
Generations of my family have served in the military for this country.

Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of burning things.  (As a kid, I almost blew myself up with my own firecrackers. Now I handload ammunition instead. )  

I believe the real significance of this story is not whether an unknown  single white Christian pastor and 50 followers burn a Koran in rural Florida, but the fact that this incident has  been given so much coverage.  This pastor is a nobody.  If Billy Graham or Pat Robertson were doing it....that would be news and the massive coverage would be understandable.  But this guy?  Forget about it.  There is another agenda here.  

This is a publicity stunt. But by whom and for what purpose?  Well nobody seems to care very much when people burn the American flag or the Bible. (Just don't burn pornograhy because that's violating free speech rights and don't disagree with Obama because  "dat's raciss.")

The purpose of this is to set up a white Christian as a punching bag for condemnation and ridicule.  He can burn anything he wants for all I care,  but I can't help wonder why this is such a big story in the left wing media who could simply ignore it if they chose, the way that same left wing media ignores so many other stories that are inconvenient to its political agenda.
