Anybody seen the ACLU lately ?....
« on: September 08, 2010, 04:32:18 AM »
You know...The ACLU that doesn't want football players to pray before a game..certainly squeal like pigs if a Christian prayer is uttered at graduation or any other school event. The ones who scream bloody murder at the mention of "Jesus"...except when it is used inappropriately.
Our continual vacation oriented prez..cancelled the "National Day of Prayer" 2 years in a row, and for the second year has refused to visit "ground zero" for memorial services.
Instead he has instituted Muslim prayer services in the seat of government...every Friday night!

     http://creepingsharia.wordpress.com/2009/08/21/capitol-hill-becomes-mosque-for-friday-islamic-prayers-jummah/

Where is the ACLU?    ....And with the series of events here, what does this tell us about both the ACLU and the "jump shot" prez..?
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

OH! OH! OH! MR KOTTER! I KNOW THIS ONE!!!

You're not hearing from the ACLU on the issues you raised, because they don't have to do with denying individuals their Constitutionally-guaranteed rights. Not at ground zero? Not heir bailiwick.

It's easy to make fun of the ACLU... you may need them, one day. They're not the enemy.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Well I heard from them here in NC. The local news said the sherrif's association{didn't say if that is local or nation wide] wants access to the DEA data base so they can compile their own data base of people who take prescription pain killers. Their stated purpose was to stop people from(doctor shopping) for pain medication. The aclu said they would be against said data base. Saw my doctor yesterday for an injection in my spine of cortisone and he said this would violate doctor patient confidentiality. I think they want this data base to prevent one from getting a permit to purchase a handgun by saying your are impaired if you take this heave duty pain medication. No telling where else they could take this data base info.

As soon as your rights are being infringed upon, they will, most likely.

It sounds like you've got a beef with the ACLU. What do you know about them?

Most cases you read about seem to be cases involving the rights of black, hispanic, liberal, illegal, criminal, liberal type folks.  Not sure I've ever seen a case where they actually fought FOR something that I believe in.

yellowtail, what planet have you on? The ACLU has helped take prayer out schools, back abortion, taken the Ten Commandments out of Court Houses, off of Court House lawns, rammed queer rights down everyone's throats, supported burning the Flag, and countless other Anti-American, Anti-Constitution, Anti-Bill of Rights issues. I haven't in my 61 years of life seen them do ANYTHING I would support, or morally condone.
FRIEND? Not hardly! A friend would put everyone of the worthless ACLU sob lawyers down a well and seal the top. And what do I know about them? Apparently a hell'ava lot more than you do.

The ACLU founders were a bunch of liberal pacifists. One of them, Roger Baldwin was a member of the American Union Against Militarism. Crystal Eastman was a feminist, socialist, and pacifist, and don't forget Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first director of the ACLU women's rights project. We all know what a great American she is.

Here is a list of issues the ACLU supports and opposes. What a great organization, huh? I can see how liberal's and atheists could fall in love with them.

The ACLU opposes:

•    Denying drivers licenses to illegal aliens 27
•    Federal laws identifying citizenship status of those receiving treatment at medical facilities 28

Homosexual Issues

The ACLU supports:
•    Homosexuality 29
•    Gay marriage 30 and benefits for gay "families" 31
•    Adoptions by gays, 32 gays as foster parents, 33 "parental" rights for gay "parents," 34 and gay parent family training 35
•    Gay clubs on school campuses, 36 gay campus publications and articles on campus, 37 and forcing straight students to attend gay sensitivity training 38
•    Gays in the military 39
•    Pro-gay state license plates 40
The ACLU opposes:
•    Marriage between only a man and a woman 41

The ACLU supports:
•    Bigamy and polygamy 43

•    Opposes banning convicted sex offenders from having access to parks where children play 78
•    Supports the notion that the “separation of church and state” trumps students' freedom of speech 79

The ACLU has from its inception encouraged political and moral anarchy. Roger Baldwin is the founder.

“I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself... I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.”

Roger Baldwin....wrote that.

Thanks for adding that Jimster. Thats a great quote from the founder of an organization, that people believe is fighting for their rights.
Usually if people don't know what an organization is about, all they have to do is look what kind of people formed it, and what kind of people run it.

Don't beat ole yellowtail up to much. There are plenty others that think the ACLU is the greatest thing since swiss cheese.

It's a proven fact most of the money going to ACLU is from left wing organizations...The Open Society Institute, headed by billionaire George Soros for one, there are many like that...their agenda is to discourage religion, and promote things like the man-boy love association.  Going from cracking down on religion in public to THAT (the man boy thing) should raise a flag for any normal person, you just don't go that far unless something is way wrong...please, they can keep their twisted views of the constitution "as they see it" to themselves far as I'm concerned.

They will pick and choose who they fight for, and their funding will decide who and when.

Aaahh yes, lets not forget about the man boy love association. One of the most despicable, perverted, shameful, organizations on the face of the earth. The organization has nothing to do with love, but everything to do with old homosexuals wanting to have sex with young boys. Isn't it great though we have the ACLU to promote their existence and agenda.

Here is a list of issues the ACLU supports and opposes. What a great organization, huh? I can see how liberal's and atheists could fall in love with them.
Yeah, let's see - I'm a Christian. I've voted Reagan, Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, Bush, McCain (idiot), so I may or may not qualify as a liberal:

The ACLU opposes:
•    The use of drug-sniffing dogs 1
•    Attempts to strengthen DUI alcohol laws 2
•    Laws restricting areas where the sexual offenders of children can live 3
•    Life sentences for juveniles convicted of extremely violent crimes 4
•    The "Three Strikes" law mandating harsher sentences for those with three felony convictions 5
•    Withholding voting rights for felons 6
The ACLU opposes the death penalty, and:
•    Claims: "The death penalty is contrary to fundamental notions of human rights. The United States is the only major country of the Western world that tolerates the death penalty." 7
•    Seeks to halt death penalty executions, 8 claiming that "death by lethal injection is extraordinarily painful and [can] constitute cruel and unusual punishment." 9
I might quibble with a couple of those, but... so far, so good! Let's look at a few more:
Quote
    The ACLU opposes:
•    Mandatory sentencing laws for crack-cocaine possession 10
•    Shutting down Methadone clinics 11
•    Laws stipulating where half-way houses may be located 12
•    Drug testing of welfare recipients 13
•    Federal faith-based drug treatment programs 14
•    Federal laws banning student loans to convicted drug addicts 15
The ACLU supports:
•    "Medical" marijuana laws 16
Again - a couple I'd have issues with, but most are okay. Start a thread on a couple and I'll tell you why.

Quote
Abortion Issues
I don't like abortion, but I understand desperation, and I'd rather let someone make a wrong decision, than further empower the state. But I don't like it .
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

Lets start a thread on the young boys in this man-boy deal...like do those young boys have any civil rights, or does the older man have more rights?

Maybe we could start there and skip the small stuff.

I'm against what you're referring to, consensual or otherwise. You'd have to get with the ACLU, I suppose, to get more info. I'm much more interested in the crime- and drug-related stuff early on in that post.

Maybe yt3 will share his knowledge and enlighten us on this aclu backed subject. POWDERMAN.  ::) ::)

Yellowtail, Yes I'm a Christian, and you know nothing about me, or who I voted for. So please don't make assumptions.

Its no skin off my back if you want to embrace the ACLU. I thought that some facts about what they are my change your mind a bit. Don't feel bad though there are many thousands of people in this country that don't have a clue what the ACLU represents.

Here's a current case from the ACLU of Louisiana.

Houston v. City of New Orleans

A man named Errol Houston had a lawfully owned gun seized by the NOPD.  They refused to return it.  The ACLU filed suit to force the NOPD to return Mr Houston's gun.

What assumptions do you percieve me to have made, DDZ, re: those things you mention above, and you? I don't think I expressed any opinions re: you on those things you mention above - did I?

I embrace the rights of the individual, when faced with the power of the state. The Constitution is meant to limit the power of the state, not the individual. The ACLU understands this; more Americans need to understand this.

You're right; many think it a plot by atheists and libruls to ban Christianity.

There's something every member of this board out to applaud the ACLU for.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

The ACLU of Texas joined with the Texas State Rifle Association and the NRA to fight local prosecutors who are defying a law aimed at protecting law-abiding Texans from being arrested for having guns in their cars. :o :o :o :o :o :o Not many people know about it because the story was never printed on a Wal-Mart name tag
