The ACLU founders were a bunch of liberal pacifists. One of them, Roger Baldwin was a member of the American Union Against Militarism. Crystal Eastman was a feminist, socialist, and pacifist, and don't forget Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first director of the ACLU women's rights project. We all know what a great American she is.
Here is a list of issues the ACLU supports and opposes. What a great organization, huh? I can see how liberal's and atheists could fall in love with them.
