Funny you should ask, just yesterday after I fired one of Southpaws Steel balls off into the brush, we decide we need to make some range tables.  We will be doing some test firing next week.

Dan, I have shot only golf balls and zinc balls in my 1/3 scale bronze model 1838 Coehorns and have never measured how far they shoot. The powder chamber is made to scale and is 1.0 inch in diameter at the top, .625 diameter at the bottom and 1.410 deep. It will hold a max of 130 grains of 2F powder in a foil cartridge but I usually use much less, 30-60 grains.

Mine holds 90 grs. 2 f also, But cant find ball or see it go, to much powder, Mine is 5/8 X 15/16 deep, top of it is contured to fit the radius of the ball.  Sweated and press fitted to barrel. Joe
