Fortuna Drilling 16x16/7x65r with Proofs

I am also looking at this Fortuna made in Suhl in the 1960's.  Suhl was turned over to the commies by the Allies after WWII.  Luckly the russians did not take everything.  I have read mixed reports that Fortuna's where made in the Suhl factory.  I have also read they where based on Merkel actions.

East German proofs with a Apr '85 date.  Very nice gun in a great caliber.  The scalloped and reinforced frame are a nice touch.
Looks like something that should go home with you.

I like a drilling so much for hunting.  In VT the bird and bear season is open at the same time.   A drilling is king there.

Does that scope come off easily?  The ones I am familar with have a easy way to slide the scope off so that the pop up irons or shot barrels can be used without the scope.

you are correct.  the scope comes off easy and the pop up sight comes up when using the rifle barrel.

April -65. But it really looks as -85 in the previous photo.

A good sturdy hunting tool! The 7x65R is like a .280 Rem with a rim.

  Only thing is, you have to keep the pressures down a bit, so it's like a light/med load in a 280 Rem..

I'm fortunate that the gun comes with 16 boxes of Sellier&Belliot ammo, which is shooting 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards.
And it has the 16 ga Krieghoff .22 mag insert.
