Ruger .44 Spcl./Lipsey run
« on: September 09, 2010, 07:06:01 PM »
I bought one of the Ruger Blackhawk .44 Spcl. when they first came out.  I have been looking for a new set of grips/stocks for it (wood) ever since.  The "New" Blackhawk will not fit which I believe is the XR3-Red.  Where can I get the older style XR3's? ???

There's a couple different sites to look at but e-mail this guy to see if his grips might work for you.

I'd go with Klamath River Woodworks or CaryC first.

You might check with 'privatescustomgrips.com' too. Seems to be nice work at reasonable prices.

You can get wood grips for that model from the Ruger website for about $50. Mine were well worth that price.

If it hasn't been stated already, I'll just say the obvious:    That 44 Special takes the exact sames grips as a NEW Vaquero.  If you find some grips you like, and they say for New Vaquero, then they'll fit your 44 special just fine too.

I've got the Lipsey 4 5/8" Bisley .44 special.  It has quickly become my favorite shooting iron!  Dennis

I have tried several different grip makers, and I prefer Cary Chapman's by far.  His fit and finish is fantastic.  Send him your grip frame for the perfect fit.
