.204 handi
« on: September 10, 2010, 04:26:21 PM »
I was in Gander Mountain in Fargo ND last week and on the shelf they had a basicly new .204 with a ultra rail on it for $149.00 . I snapped it up in a hurry!!! Their gunsmith on staff said when he checked it out he was sure it had not ben shot more that a couple of times. The bluing was not even wore off the hinge pin or the shelf. My question to you guys that know these guns better than I do is why did a standerd pallet wood .204 with matching numbers and a nu serial number have a bull barrel and a ultra scope rail ? I did shoot it a dozen times of the hood of my truck after bore sighting it and with little adjustment it was blowing up pop cans full of water at 150 to 200 yds no problem. I cant wait to get the bench out and set up some targets!! Mark

Congrats Mark!! The 22" bull barrel is the normal barrel for 204 Ruger Handi, I bought mine new in 2004, it has an Ultra rail also, my guess is they ran out of standard rails for a while and that's what they used instead.

Thanks Tim. I thought it looked original. It sure is fun to shoot at 4000 fps. This is my first super fast centerfire. You sure can tell the diferance between 3600 fps and 4000 fps !! Not that a person needs it, but it's fun to see just how quick some of these rifle's are!!

The 204 is like a 17hmr on steroids, no recoil and the bullet holes just magically appear on the target cuz you can see the target as it's hit.  ;)
