I see that Davidson's has the Single Six Hunters listed for both 17 hmr and 22lr/22 mag.  Has anyone heard when these are scheduled to come out?

I have wanted to scope my Single Six for some time - often wondered why Ruger just did not offer more calibers in the Hunter Style. This Hunter Single Six is a welcome surprise. Hopefully there will be one to look over at the next gun show! I would like to see a Hunter offered in the 357 Mag Blackhawk or Ruger GP100 - one of those I would seriously consider.

Davidson's is starting to list some of the 2004 mofels from a few manufacturers already.  More than likely the debut will be at SHOT '04 and they'll hit dealers shelves sometime _my guess - in mid to late spring.  After all, Ruger isn't exactly timely in releasing thier new items.  I'm been thinking about this model for a week now trying to determine which to get.  Should be great for squirrels.

Howdy all. New guy here. I put a scope on my Single Six and I really like it. I wonder how much more the Hunter is going to cost or if it's still cheaper just to scope the standard Six.

Gents, what makes a "hunter" modle? Does it come with a scope mount?
Have 4 Single sixes but I've never heard of this flavor.

The "Hunter" series all stainless w/ a ribbed atop the bbl with mounting grooves for the supplied rings.  The grip panels are a black/grey laminate.  see the Ruger site for the current offerings in the Hunter line.

I took a look at the ruger 'special modle" section and found what you talked about in a blackhawk. No mention of a single six version there as of today though.  The BH was nice looking for sure!  I like the idea of being able to mount a scope and keep the rear sight too.

I hope camel 23 isn't yanking our chain. If ruger made a light caliber hunter like that I will have to order one of those. I love those but just didn't think I would use a 44 enough. A 17 or 22 type caliber would be right up my alley.

The suggested retail  for the Single Six Hunters is $599 and $650 as compared to the MRSP of $485 for a standard stainless Single Six.  he Hunter models include rings which have a MSRP of $72.70.  Of course they'll actually sell for less.  I'll guess around $475-$525.
The Hunter models also allow the scope to be mounted more forward allowing better access to the hammer.  The Hunter is also the only stainless Single Six model avail. w/ a 7 1/2" bbl.  The whole package w/ or w/o a scope has a much different feel and balance.
I've planned for one since I first read of them back in Nov or Dec.  It'll make a great companion to my 45 Hunter

The website has yet to be updated.  There's a number of changes in the '04 catalog not yet listed online.

They also have made them in .41 magnum and .45LC.  I wouldn't be surprised if we see a special run of them in .357 this year from one of the larger distributors.

A co-worker of mine had the opprotunity to shoot one this past weekend (along w/ a Gold Label and .204 Ruger).  Fit and finish were good and accuracy was excellant.  He seemed quite impressed with the Hunter.  They began shipping just recently should be more readily available fairly soon.   I will get one just not exactly sure when.  Within the next 12 months for sure.
