Me and Kimber........
« on: September 12, 2010, 03:25:02 AM »
In the past I have often displayed my dislike for the Kimber pistols, after owning two with ejection problems that after much frustration I traded I ridded myself of all 0f them.

Well, I am again the proud owner of a Kimber, Ultra 10 II,   Yesterday morning the wife ask me to stop a garage sale while driving over to our daughter’s house.  I reluctantly pulled over so she could take  look., I sat in the truck listening to the radio.   After a few minutes she came back to the truck and told me there were several really nice guns on one of the tables, I walked over for a look and there lay the little Kimber along with several cheap .22 and a few old shotguns.  I picked it up and ask the lady, ‘HOW MUCH,’  she said “all the guns had belonged to her ex-brother-in-law and they were selling them for what ever they could get out of them.’  I again ask, ‘Well, how much for this one/?”  She called her sister over and between the two of them they decided the gun was worth $450.00.  I took it1  the gun is almost brand new, still in the box and appears to have been fired very little, she gave the remainder of the ammo that was purchased with the gun, there were 14 bullets left in the box.

Last night I gave it a good cleaning now I think I have some things at the farm that need checking on this afternoon……like there ain’t no targets on the hanging on the frames…………… ::) ::)

Same hear.  Closest I have ever come to finding a gun at a yard sale is a couple of boxes of shot shells that I scoffed up for a buck a piece.

I did make it out to the farm for the "test drive."  She performed well, no jams.........I fired Remington, Winchester, Federal and some handloads through her, she ate em all.  I think she is a keeper.

My friend that went to the range with me brought his new (used) SIg 2132SL, she is a sweety too.  CDNN currently has them Factory Re-Built for $421.00, that would be plus shipping and transfer fees from your local dealer, they also have some fanstatic buys on S&W ARs (for example, a flat top Optics ready .223 Carbine, $599.99.) .  If anyone wants further information call 1-800-588-9500.  Why not ask them to send you a catalog, I'm betting that you will find something you want in it.............. I think I just might order the little Sig today. ;D

nice catch!   and i am talking specifically about your wife.   i dont know too many wives that would tell their husbands about a gun at a garage sale.  you should do something especially nice for her.

myronman3.  It took a lot of training to convince her that a gun was a necessary evil for men...........no seriously, she knows my interest and keeps me well informed.  After 51 years of marriage we are still best friends too.  Over the years she has put me on some very good gun buys.

As for finding guns at garage sales, lately I have noticed an increase in the number advertised in the new "rag" gragrage sales ads. I have checked out a few of them but most guns are gone before I get there or turn out to be trash, or priced too high.
