Mack;
  Just a guess since I have never tried live trapping them, but the quail sounds ok and I think if I were to try the live trap method, I would still use a good call lure (maybe just a little on the feathers of the quail).  Knowing a little about the habits of greys, I think anything that is his natural food source in your particular area would be good.  Some of the other members can probably guide you better than I on the live trapping.
For Sale: Old wore out trapper - rode hard, put up wet, high milage and earned every mile.

Mack, When I trap North Carolinia for red and gray fox. I use soft catch traps or snares.The live market is better pay than the fur market.And the pen owners like to here that you are using soft catch traps.Even if you can do a good job with the right regular foot hold. I just punch the old standard sets,dirt hole,flat,urine post ect.If you trap Beauford or Pit Countys you can use snares.Burlington is in Almance county and you cant snare there.Snares are a great tool for the live market.No sore feet at all.And with a 2 1/2"deer stop a fox cant choke down. For bait I like FRESH beaver and of course I use my own SNARE ONE-PINNEY POWER LURES (how do you like the way I got that add in Bogmaster :-) ) the red fox gland lure works good for red and gray fox,coon too.Then just give the set a shot of red fox urine
