Two Guns I Just Love
« on: September 13, 2010, 02:27:39 PM »
The Remington 700 & the Remington 870.  To me it just doesn't get any better.  Sometimes I think I'd like to try a short barreled 760 or 7600 in .308 or .30-06.

I like them too.  The 700 is a truly classic action, and the 3 lever remington trigger has been the most copied trigger design ever, best I can tell.  The 870 Wingmaster is a beautiful gun, but I do prefer the BPS because it kicks the shells out at my feet.

I'm with you on this one Swampman.  In fact, I recently traded off a Kimber Montana to purify if you will my gun safe,  all Remingtons from now on.  I do like the Model Seven and my 673 in 350 mag also, of course I'm sure you know the 673 is nothing more than a model Seven.  I am keeping a couple of Mausers with sentimental attachments, and my 375 Ruger Alaskan my wife bought me.  The Remington's don't seem to mind to share the space in the back of the safe ;)

I'm a huge fan of the 673 in 350 mag.  I have some Marlins, H&Rs, and one Savage.  I only bought it because I wanted a smokless muzzleloader.

Add the 1100 and throw me in.  My 700s, 870s, and 1100s have never let me down.
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

I could not agree more ;D
I just wish they would bring back the 870 Special Field

I've seem more 1100s torn down and tossed in the trunk in pieces because they wouldn't work than I care to think about.  That's why I won't shoot an auto.

Swampman, you should try a 760/7600.  I have a 7600 carbine in .30-06 thaI've had about 5 years.  Two winters ago I bought an 870 20 gauge youth model for white rabbit hunting.  I liked that it was light for all day carry on snowshoes and quick to the shoulder, yet has enough punch for them big hares.  Quite by surprise I discovered that it is almost identical in every aspect to the 7600.  Size, carry, trigger, safety and action, they just both complement each other so well that I've not carried any of my other rifles or shotguns since.  The 870 is now my grouse, skeet and turkey gun as well as rabbits.  Gotta love 'em!

I picked up an 870 Express Magnum 20 Gauge Youth Model for $177.00 out the door.  It is very handy & light.  I have my eye out for a 760/7600 in .30-06.

just got my first 700 last winter and am just now gettin it ready for deer season.ive had a model 7 for 20+ years and was always happy with it for hunting.the 700 has been a really easy rifle to work with, easy sight in, good trigger and swallows bout any loads with decent accuracy.it is a older one im guessing mid 80's but id have to research that.im really looking forward to deer season with it.im thinkin its a keeper.ive been wanting a 870 for a long time but ive got so many shotguns that i really cant justify any more.
