Need Info.
« on: September 14, 2010, 09:52:49 AM »
I have been trying to read up on Mosins and somethings are'nt clicking. 1. is i cant figure out the markings. What i was wondering if some one could take a picture of the markings and explaine them. All i ever did was pick one up and shoot it. Maybe this will help me get started on my collecting. I started buying pocket pistols but they dried up around here. Now i am moving to military rifles. I already have a M1A, SKS, & a 98 Mauser now i am going after the 7.62x54 Mssin Nagget.

Thats great you started in the right direction.  I would go to; www.gunboards.com  they have a mosin nagant section with all the info on markings and the different mosins so you know what you have or what your looking at to purchase.  If you don't have your c&rffl03 collectors license i would suggest getting it for $30 for 3 years.  Then you can purchase C&R guns at wholesale prices and get gun parts, gun accessories, reloading supplies and ammo at discount prices too.  Checkout; www.aimsurplus.com  /  www.allans-armory.com  / www.midwayusa.com  / www.gunpartscorp.com  too.   Aim has some awesome prices on mosins right now and allans armory has the mosin m91/59 right now too these are kind of rare.                                                                                                                                      1911crazy

The m-38 is the little short carbine that does not have a folding bayonet, The m-44 is the carbine that has the folding bayonet. The 91/30 is the loooooog one.

And there is the 91/59 which is a cut down 91/30 which also has no bayonet......My favorite.   If you want to learn about Mosins go to  7.62x54r.net    tons of info there.
