Weighted inserts VS Weighted Adapters

Built myself a new set of CX Hertiage 150s and after bare tuning the shafts I found they loved 225gr heads.  This is a bit of a problem as you just don't find screw-in broadheads (or not many) in that weight.  This leaves you with 2 options - 1 install weighted brass inserts or go glue-on broadheads and weighted adaptors.

I had played around with some of the weighted brass inserts before and had good results, but wanted to give the weighted adaptors a try.  Both work, but the weighted adaptors for the glue-on broadheads are a whole lot more troublesome and time consuming to get right.  If you don't use hot glue you won't be able to tune them unless you do it quickly if you use epoxy or other type of glue.  Once all setup right the work awesome, but it does take some time.

If anyone is interested in more information on either of these methods, give me a yell.   By the way here is a picture of what my new arrows look like.  I paint dipped and crested them and they have been fletched with 4 five inch sheild cut feathers.

All Hawks, those are beautiful. Did you choose blue because it's easy to see in flight or you just like blue? I'm finding blue is easy to see for me. For heavy broadheads, I think I've seen the Woodsman Elite screw in listed up to 250grs. Pg 55 3 Rivers catalog. Wow, they list a Steel Force Screw in BH at 225 & 300grs page 54 but you'd best sit down $48.99/3!  The Woodsmans are $34.99/3 Those might help though. Good luck. Beautiful arrows.

I was just looking for some pretty arrows when I started, but you are right that blue is easy to see.  I'm finishing up on another dozen I'm making with a different type a of shaft tonight and will post a picture of them.  They aren't blue is the only hint I'll give you.  The shafts are also tapered carbon shafts that I'm test driving for company making them.  They want them pretty and they want me to use them opening day.  Not sure I'll be using them opening day, I have too much confidence in these blue ones and there isn't much time to get these others ready before opening day.

I'll be waiting to see them. Those blue ones pictured are beautiful.
The blue is easy for me to see too. I like white, but have had a couple people tell me white fletching is like a Whitetail waving their flag when they leave it's a warning sign for them. It's easy enough to get busted without help from your feathers.
Nice arrows I'll be looking for the new ones.

Here they are.  The shafts are called Thumpers and they are fully tapered carbon shafts.  The woodgrain version will be out soon and they will be called Ironwoods.  I'm giving these a test run for the company to help work out all the kinks.  I might have to give these a try opening morning.

Wow, those are nice, should be really easy to see I used to like white & still do, but they are kind of like waving a Whitetails flag. Those should really be the best of both worlds easy to see & not spooky to deer. Thanks for sharing.

I used a lot of White feathers but most folks are getting away from them.  Never thought about them possibly spooking deer but your point makes a lot of sense.

Now if the rain lets up and the skeeters leave me along this evening I'm going to see how these new ones fly.  If they fly as good as the others then I'll have to make a tough decision on which to carry opening morning.

Well no need to carry some of each.  They both fly good and hit where I aim, but the orange ones are noticably a bit faster and penetrate my broadhead target almost 3 inches deeper than the blue ones.   I think a lot of that has to do with the fully tapered shafts, but what ever it is I like what I see.

I like that orange color, as I burried one of my CX Heritage arrows, you've seen the fletching color before... can you say FALL COLORS, and it just vanished.  Still haven't found it, and I know about where it is with that Zwickey broadhead on it, but I just can not locate it.

Color is everything in aiding in locating.

You saw the video of me sending one skipping down through the woods and brush.  It was getting dark as I got over to start looking for it, but it only took a minute or so as that bright orange stood out like a sore thumb.  I think I love that color.

No question about it, its a got to have color and you'll know what to do when I get the new CX Heritage 150's and the ones I'm currently using.
