Bought a 700 Classic in 6.5x55, but it would never shoot as good as my sons Model 38 Swedish Mauser. It shoot groups of around 1 1/2 to 2" at 100yards. My sons Swedish Mauser shoot 1" or better at 100 yards. The gun sat in my gunsafe for over 10 years. A gunsmith friend suggested rechambering it for 6.5x284. That was a great choice it now shoots well below 1" at 100 yards. While at Fort Benning, GA, a sniper friend shot golf balls at 500 meters with the rifle. He ran out and built him one too. Every year he makes a trip to South Dakota and shoots prairie dogs. I can't shoot that well, but the bullet has its long range capabilities.
