Old Winchester pump 22cal s/l/lr
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:08:27 PM »
I just purchased a Winchester Model 06 22 RF pump that takes 22's  short/longs/long rifles and the serial number tells me its made in 1913.  I shot my grandfathers when i was a kid and i always wanted one. I also shot one at a carvinal at targets but i think it was in 22cal shorts only.  Does anyone have one or has shot one?

I've been biten by the bug to collect more of these older 22 rifles.

I have a mint, unfired Winchester model 62A. I have another Winchester 62A that I shoot with, that I have used for over forty years. Of all of the pump guns, I think winchester made the best.

I just got an 06 a couple weeks ago.  Also made in 1913 by the s/n.   Fun little gun to shoot.

I was back on the home farm last weekend and brought back the Winchester 1906 that belonged to my father.  I learned to shoot with it over 50 years ago.  It was made in 1919 so it may also have belonged to my grandfather.  The exterior looks like a gun that has spent a lot of time on the farm but the bore is still bright and shiney.  I expect that it will have a lot more years left in it when I pass it down to my grand daughter.

I have my fathers 06 that he had before I was born which is now over 62 years ago. The s/n , yes both the same, indicates is was mfg in 1937. The books say that in 37 a lot of them were assembled from existing parts. I have never seen another 06 like this one, the slide is the same size and shape as a 62 and the stock has a steel butt plate like an 1890. I always asked him about the combination and his reply was, "thats the way it was when I bought it".
