Sorry to hear about your injury, but it could have been a whole lot worse.
Remember when 9-11 happened ?  Many, many people who worked in the twin towers just happened to be sick that morning, and couldn't make it to work.  SO, maybe it just wasn't meant for you to be out there this time.   Hope you heal up a-okay.

Being my own boss, the boss told me to stay at work. As long as I can put part of my finger on the trigger (early doe season started today) then I'll be just fine. :-)

Never point a staple gun at anything you don't intend to staple. ;)
Yep your lucky. Your lucky it wasn't your shotgun ;D
Soak in some cool epsom salts it'll take the swelling down.

Hay at least you still got the finger.  Watched a meat cutter cut off his thumb last year with a band saw.  Doctors were able to reattach it, but he has to find another profession.  None of the processors will hire him.

Ron 1:  In the mean time use your middle finger on the trigger.  Works just as good.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Ouch. Heal quickly...
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

i like to hunt with my 686 s&w 357  and to use my middle finger to shoot im afraid of the gases that comes out between the cylinder and the barrel hitting the end of my pointer finger.   the staple went in just behind the finger nail. oct. first is opening day for bow i know i ll be good to go for bow.  by the way it hurts worse today,  then what it did when i pulled the staple out. i  think it would be a good idea to wear rubber gloves if i get to clean a deer.
good luck to everyone this season.  8) 8)

good luck to you too!

if it starts throbbing more and itching open it up and flush it out with peroxide or diluted bleach, you can't blow off cuts ESPECIALLY if they get random grit and oils in them.

The trigger finger should have been on the trigger. The staple comes out the front of the gun.  ?

i was stapling corner bead so i had the gun in my right hand and holding the corner bead with my left.
the gun is about wore out and is starting to shoot doubles (pow pow) the first one into the bead. the gun  bounced off the corner and then fired again hitting my left trigger finger just behind the finger nail. it was a new strip of staples so they were clean. so far so good as far as healing goes but it hurts.
went out  last night for early doe and seen a big doe with three babies  so she got a free pass. two hours later a beautiful  eight point buck at twenty yards.   i hope to see him again during bow season.

Ouch - that's gotta hurt.  As another poster said though - just use a different finger.  My dad had an accident as a kid that caused him to lose use of his top three fingers (thumb through middle finger - including his trigger finger) on his right hand.  They're still there - he just can't feel or move them.  He just adapted to shooting with the finger just above his pinky.  Doesn't work very well for handguns (which he's just never shot much - when he does he bites the bullet and shoots left handed), but with long guns it's just fine, and he's a far better shot than I am.  Just has to be some type of manual action.  Autos have been known to hit the other fingers with the bolt handle as it comes back.  Doesn't really hurt him as he can't feel it, but they still can get cut and such.
