Back when piercings were first getting started, I took Sky into work with me one day. I worked out of the Fire Station back then. One of the Fireman's grown Daughters came in with a nose ring. All the guys took one look and got unusually quite when she walked in. They thought it was disgusting, but did not want to offend her father who was well thought of. Sky came in from the truck bay, took one look at her, and expressed his openion. "Uhgh, chrome buggers". The entire day room burst out in a huge laugh, those guys could not contain it any longer. Several kept repeating "Chrome Buggers". The young lady left, and I have never seen her wearing that ring again. Leave it to a 10yr old to speak the truth, and express his openion.

There is a "popular" song with lyrics, "Be cool or be cast out..." Kids, today as in our own days, find their niche in school and MOST follow the crowd. Few stand out as leaders. MOST grow up much later in life than High School, look back and wonder.

I used to work with a girl with a pin in her nose. She sat accross from me at lunch one day and sneezed. The darn think popped out and just kinda hung there til she popped it back in. I wasn't hungry anymore.

She can claim religious grounds, but I doubt she'd need to. This will fall under freedom of speech/expression plain and simple. School admins are constantly doing dumb things and getting caught. This is just the latest example.

As to attractiveness of this type of girl, I must say that I'm not a huge fan of piercings myself. I do love tattoos on a girl though (as long as they're intricate and well done - no fuzzy ship anchors

). To each his own though. Different strokes for different folks.

LOL - just a trend I see in tattoos on older sailors. My uncle has one - a poorly done ship anchor tattoo that's faded and gone "fuzzy" (outlines aren't as defined) with age. It's just kinda the stereotypical "bad tattoo" that I see when I picture a bad tattoo. I've seen others that were rough too. If you're going to be inked you need to be SELECTIVE about who does it. Nothing looks worse than a bad tattoo, but few things look better than a really well done one.

I was laughing at your post too - particularly the context in which it was written. Whenever I see a good looking young woman with tats I remark how poor they will ALL look in 20 years. A lot of the gals today are going to find their youths wasted and their looks gone by 40 or 50. Nothing is going to remove that tat that bleeds from sharp focus into "a fuzzy ship anchor" over 20 years. I think I should invest in the manufacture of one-piece bathing suits for my own self protection. I don't WANT to see that crap in 20 years at the beach.

I'm seeing those gone bad tats everyday at the Gym. Women in their 40s and 50s with faded or misshappen tats. I'm sure when they were first done they may have looked good to someone. But after the woman has gained 100 lbs, and the skin the tate is on has been streatched out of it's original shape, it's yuck. A one piece bathing suite does not cover all of them.

When in Turkey, I worked with a single woman that had a huge colorful Tatoo. A dragon with it's tail on her back, then the body of the dragon covered the entire front of her body from her shoulders to her mid theighs. I can not further discribe it here. But she said I was the only man that had ever seen it in it's entirity. I hate Tatoos, but I have to say it was a beautiful work of art. When in uniform or dressed in street cloths, no one ever knew she had it.

as much as i hate to say it, i dont think a 14 YEAR OLD GIRL needs to be going down that path. i am heavily tattooed, and my son was asking me about it the other day. he doesnt like tattoos. which made me very happy believe it or not. back when i started with my tattoos, it was NOT common at all. now the people that are unusual are those without ink. i hope neither of my sons ever get tattoos. and they damn sure wont be getting them while they are younger than 18; rest assured of that. do what you want once you are 18; but until then, aint happening.

I can actually agree with that myself. At 14 she's not old enough to decide, so I don't think a 14 year old should be getting tattoos. Just more of a response to a comment earlier that someone made about tattoo's and piercings making a girl look bad.

As to piercings - like I said, I'm not really into them (particularly gauges in the ears ), but that's each person's choice. I personally don't see any difference in an ear piercing and a nose piercing, so if they're allowed to do one they ought to be allowed to do the other. Whether or not to allow (all) piercings or disallow (all) piercings for those under 18 is a separate topic.

Disliking them is one thing, but "tramp stamp" is an established name used for a specific TYPE of tattoo, and to many it's not even offensive. It's just a name. Most girls when getting a tattoo there will proudly say that they're getting a "tramp stamp" because that's what that tattoo is called. It's kinda considered one of the primary locations for a girl to get a tattoo and the choice of just WHAT you put there is an important one. My sister-in-law for example, due to her Native American heritage, got a dreamcatcher there. And yes, she herself calls it a "tramp stamp".

Oops! You were talking about piercings. I was about tattoos. I don't know about either personally.
