WHAT KIND OF PURCHASER ARE YOU?
« on: September 19, 2010, 07:16:26 AM »
Do you purchase from the left side of the menu or are you a budget conscious buyer.
Do you try and fill needs or do you look for something that "wii do?"
What influences your purchase.
Does your hobby make you a different kind of buyer.
Do you look for the best price or do you prefer to shop locally?
Just curious questions I wonder about !!
Blessings

I am definitely not a budget buyer.  I have a defined taste for nice things.  The types of things that influence my purchases are quality, durability, reputation, and country of origin...never price.  I always shop locally...for trucks, guns, groceries...you name it...whenever possible i buy locally. I am wealthy?  Hardly, im a newlywed and in college, but i do appreciate quality and have good taste.  When i die, i dont want my grandchildren going through my belongings thinking "boy, grandpa sure was cheep...look at all this junk"  I would rather them say "Grandpa sure had a lot of nice things that i would be proud to own...i guess i should work hard to have nice things as well".  I have some ultra cheep in-laws.  No matter what they buy, its always the cheapest piece of crap that will work.  Whenever they show me anything its always followed by how cheep it was and i always just think to myself...of course its cheep...you dont have nice things!  I cannot understand that mentality. Its not about lack of money either.  I person can buy nice things on a budget if they use their brain or are willing to restore something.  A little smart labor can go a long way.  I would rather have one nice thing, than 10 pieces of garbage.
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

I get swayed sometimes by a cheap price or the necessity to shop for Christmas in July (storing stuff and remembering where it all is becomes the issues).
I am constantly "internet window shopping" from the plethora of ads and search for either a good price or to stay aware of current pricing.
I do not necessarily like instant purchases, except when I am trying to keep some local merchant in business.
Shipping and HAZMAT costs can be the biggest deterrents on the Net and I will check for local comparisons first
I try to buy in volume to keep the average unit price low and spread shipping and other costs out.
Hunting, reloading, household, automotive, a few gun parts, and gifts make up the bulk of my discretionary purchases.

Very rarely do I choose an item based on low price alone. I truly believe the buy once cry once axiom, generally speaking I will do without rather than compromise on a cheap knockoff.

I am not afraid to buy things that are new to a market either. This has been both expensive and frugal, Super Beta VCR, nobody read the stats 'cept me. On the other end of the spectrum I have an Aqua View sonar unit that is better in almost every way than a Vexilar ( for my use ) and was a couple hundred $ less.

I have quite a bit of equipment that is going to make a nice auction item as it is going to outlast my using it. I've been trying to consider that as I get things but it's a hard thing to do, for me.

I try to figure out the best quality in a product, and then look/wait for a break in that price bracket.  You get what you pay for mostly, but if you have patience you can get a deal on quality sometimes.

I'm definitely cheap these days, of neccessity (and it's becoming habit). I'm a function-first guy, and all about sufficiency. So while I'd like a new accu-trigger Savage in .308 and a 10ML - they're on the wish list - I'm going to stick with the 336 and old CVA for the time being... .
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

I've always had a whiskey taste and water budget. That said I hardly ever charge any thing.I save for it and when i get the money,I get it.Some times I've decided not to buy it after all.I like to find bargains if i can too.I've bought some knock off things, but looked hard at them to decide if they'd last and work for what I need.Do a lot of reading on big ticket items. Some things aren't negotiable.Still drink Jack Black.

I'm in a transition phase myself. Got a lot of guns, and typically I've been about the budget.  Milsurps, budget line rifles, finding "the deal" on a used rifle tucked away in some shop, and finding a "fixer upper" that would be had on the cheap so that I could put in some elbow grease.

What I've encountered lately though is that I'm just getting far too many guns to actually ENJOY them.  I have guns in my collection that I've never shot.  Between that and dwindling storage space, I've had to tone it down lately.  For the most part, for newer purchases I'm looking at higher quality and priced guns.  Seems like getting 1 really good gun per year at this point is just more satisfying than getting 4-5 "truck guns".  I'm also more closely focusing on handguns now (less storage space, and more fun to shoot at the range).

Regardless of what I buy though, I'm always going to look for the best price.  Lately for me Bud's Gun Shop has been where I do most of my shopping at.

If I can tickle my fancy and get done what I want done cheaply then I go for it.

But sometimes it takes big dollars to scratch an itch or get "whatever" done right.

I try not to fall for gimmicks or sales hype because I'm practical. But sometimes practical can be luxurious......at a price!    ;D
