Wolverine Load
« on: September 19, 2010, 02:44:18 PM »
I have a Knight Wolverine with #11 percussion cap ignition.  300 grain XTP's shoot well out of it with 90 grains of 2F, but with the short barrel, the recoil is heavy.  Would 80 grains of 2f with 240 grain XTP's make much difference on recoil?  Would the 80 grain 2F/240 grain XTP be enough power for deer hunting?

Ten grains less powder and a bullet that's 20% lighter will definitely give you less recoil.   And 240 grain XTP's have been killing deer for years.  Eighty grains will drive it plenty fast enough for 150 yard kills.  As always, shot placement is key.

70 grains of 3f would do the same.  I don't use 2f for anything but blanks.
