 A bit of logic needed here;
     ..When an aggressor force wants to move into a space and you remove/disarm the only organized defensive entity, you are automatically installing the aggressor.

   common sense...
Call me slow, but I don't get it: can you explain how it is that the US installed Khomeini? Here I was, thinking that Khomeini came to power as result of a popular revolution. School me?

Yes he is very busy traveling around the World telling everyone how bad America is.

Did he? What did he say?

Just a little piece!

Jimmy Carter's Middle East mess

Just a little bitty sample. All of us already know this, a much harder question would be: When does he ever speak well of America when abroad, now that would be a tough one.

He's a joke, a bad one.

Alright, I read it. The assertion was made that Carter was 'very busy traveling around the World telling everyone how bad America is' and  I asked, What did he say?, and... the WND article was offered as an answer, but it falls short: it is an opinion piece, the author clearly dislikes Carter, but otherwise it is empty.

I was not a fan of Jimmy Carter; I never voted for him, I've done my fair share of mocking. But this WND piece is crap, and doesn't mean squat.

Liking or disliking the article doesn't mean squat either & was not the point, the point is as stated in the article is that this clown does indeed prop up our enemies & like Obummer is on a perpetial apology tour.

HUMMMMM-- I am going to talk about something I know about.
The attempt to rescue the hostages was a well planned---planned by some very intelligent and seasoned folks, not by Carter.
For the times and tecnology is was a brilliant and heroic effort by men who gave their lives.
The real culprit in the plan was Murphy. Everything that could go wrong went wrong.
It could have/should have worked---but for Murphy. I use Murphy but it was God who disallowed.
Carter, for all of his faults and social mistakes, is/was smart, a bean counter who could not get above correcting paperwork. He didn't do anything in this plan but authorize it.
Carter is correct when he says he continues to do more for the underpriviliged than past presidents.
I do not/did not care for Cartes politics or social agenda---did not vote for him.
I am talking about the plan that failed.
Blessings

Carter wa misguided when he thought you could compromise and make deals withthe regime who held the hostages. It was a learning experience for everyone.
We seem to forget the lessons offered for learning in these experiences.
If the addage that insanity is defined by a person who continues to do things that do not work and hoping for a different end results---Obama is insane.

All true, esp. the part about Murphy. I remember learning about the failed rescue - I was walking to the galley for breakfast at NAS Jax, and bought a paper on the way, and there it was in the headline. It was a huge disappointment.

Mark Bowden wrote a pretty good article on the rescue in The Atlantic - see http://tinyurl.com/22ln7w7

Sorry william the attempt was not well planned at all I just finished a good book about it. What is reality is we were not preprared for dealing with the crisis at all. Assets were used that did not work well togather . The chopper polits had not trained with night vision equipment and were in aircraft not really suited to the task. Much of the group was put togather for political reasons .
It could have been well planned if we had of had people trained to do the job and work togather which at the time we did not. It was in effect a wake up call.

William and others:  I was present during those aborted attempts.  I lay the blame solely on Carter.  He had cut the military budget to the bone.  We were cannibalizing parts off one aircraft to get another flying.  Then after the mission putting that part back on the original aircraft.  Items that were meeting the replace specs were being left in service due to there being no replacement parts availiable.  Those Aircraft that went down in the dessert would not have been flying under those conditions during Fords and Reagans times.  They would have had the faulty parts that caused the crashes replaced and been able to complete the mission.

If those faulty aircraft had not have crashed there would have been other problems jumping up.  Our Special Ops forces were not properly equiped at that time as well.  Carter refused to gove them the funding they needed.  All military branches was hurting at that time.

Today "Carter is a legend in his own mind".    Until Jan 2009 he was the sorriest president we ever had during my lifetime.  Truman forward.     Now we are stuck with an Illigal Alian, and
Chicago Street Thug in that office.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I'm wondering: if all had worked out well in that rescue mission - if ALL EIGHT helos arrived at desert one, no collisions, if they picked up the hostages, if they got the helos to start again, if they made it back to the carrier - would you guys then be calling Carter a great military leader? I'm just curious...

I suggest that there was superior planning---superior training.
It was risky--no doubt.
The boys thought they could pull it off---it wasn't a guess---it was a plan of "we can do this."
Sorry but this armchair quarterbacking won't hold water in this firefight.
We lost some dedicated, heroic and able people. It was not a boondogle.

Wait a minute!....I'm suppose to believe that a detail of spec ops guys sent out on a one of a kind dangerous rescue mission to save the lives of 52 government employees held hostage by hostiles in a foreign capital were assigned to do this on the cheap with penny pinching and marginal training as if there were no fit and ready assets available at the time. ITs amazing the USA still exist then.!! Naw...c'mon now.  Something else happened.....or didn't happen. Those guys caught up in this must have been out of their minds to consent to such nonsense....and it seems like some guys think Carter should have personally oversighted their training. Geeezzz..

..TM7
.
  The United States still exists..because we did not ALWAYS heve Commanders-in-Chief like Carter..and now, ..B.Hussein. Fortunately, Reagan rebuilt the military, and had the US "standing proud" again. Don't you guys remember what a great leader Carter was..saying the country was in a state of 'malaise'..well, no surprise..the people were discouraged, after Carter was in office for a few months..same as now!

  Now here is some education for you, ABC news archives explaining how Carter was doing his best to depose the Shah in favor of the Ayatollah;

...And 'Bumbles' Carter was much in favor of the bloody butcher, Ayatollah Khomeini. Here are some more archives explaining Jimmie's role in  being "the godfather of the Muslim terrorism".

     http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2002/10/29/170201.shtml

  Those who have an urge toward reason..watch the video and check the article...explains much . I find it fascinating when we have a man (Sourdough) who tried to keep aircraft pieced together during the Carter cutbacks. ...And the lib-lovers here won't hear a thing he says.

  A bit of info for TM7;
  He seems to think I said the Spec Ops troops were just "couch potatoes"..nothing could be further from the truth. The problem is, Spec Ops need to be training, training, training..with very little breaks between. training takes much ammo and explosives, logistics and other costs...such training is very expensive..and the Dems are notoriously stingy with our military.  The aircraft the troops had on that event were the only ones running out of their whole outfit, and they were running on canabalized parts..

Carter suck ups can do any dance that makes them feel good, afterall, how a Lib "feels" about something is the important thing to them, but the Iranians knew it was release time when the softie stepped down.  ;D

The mere fact that he did pick up a hammer and help build homes for habitat humanity makes him superior to any of the other living ex presidents in my book the other are a waste of oxygen. HORRIBLE PRESIDENT but then everyone fails at something. The fact that the hostage rescue failed was not his fault it was a MILITARY failure the guys that put it together should have been court martialed . He had the nerve to try it but the failure was a military matter. The fact that he did nothing else may have reflected a loss of faith in the military.

I would imagine again like always when someone challenges your silly stories you just avoid the subject after that.

I was supposed to go on the mission and helped launch the planes.  My friends died, but I went to NCO leadership school instead.  The funerals were about the most painful event of my then young life.  I hold the pathetic Jimmy Carter responsible and always will.

Those making comments about those who went on the missions are crap.  Stick to what you know.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Swampie...Yes, Grant was a good man and leader.....but he's labeled a raging anti-semite, because of the way he hazzled the camp vendors during the war, and busted the arses of the carpetbaggers. Yup charges of anti-semitism have been normal for thousands of years..just normal like IG's gutter comment above. In fact,, during the Civil War the whole northern Union was labeled anti-semitic since they were busting up the slave trade triangle, busting up int'l banksters financing this wide war on all sides, and other seamy ruthless things. Breaking up the banksters earned Lincoln a public assassination, too.
But yeah...Grant was OKay...liked to drink alittle too much, though.. ;)

Well if he didn't like Jews then I hate him.

Did you say hate? .....Well I reckon you 'hate' him then....that was a fast turn about. Likely, Grant wasn't an anti-semite; just didn't like their business practices, nor considered them the sole possesors of 'moral superiority'...so he treated them like anybody else.  That, of course, will earn you the famous age old epitaph of anti-semite every time.,...So what and who cares...does it matter.?

Grant was OKay//tried to do his best...saved the south alot of agony and ripping off during Reconstruction, too.
