long and short of it is...bullies are something else. and i hate them. i told my boys that if i EVER get a knock on the door, and someone tells me they have been bullied by one of my kids, that they @$$whupping they would get would be of biblical proportions. and they know i am not kidding.
my youngest is autistic. a few years back we had to move, and they switched schools. long story short, some older kids took to bullying my oldest boy. he is a very sweet kid who would rather get beat up than hurt anyone. so they pushed and pushed, and everyday i would talk to the teachers and point out what was happening. and the next day, it was more of the same. this went on for weeks. i told him he had every right to stand up for himself, but his response was that he had promised Jesus he wouldnt fight. i told him Jesus doesnt expect you to take daily beatings and he wouldnt mind you sticking up for yourself. still, myron had made his choice and i respect that.
one day, after picking on the elder son, the group of 4 4th grade boys decides they were going to have fun with his brother. so they went over to him and took his ball away. he tried to innocently take it back, and one of them pushed him (he was in kindergarden).
now i pause here to tell you about gabriel's personality.... he is every bit as sweet as his older brother; but he does NOT share his brother's views on violence. and, gabriel is RIPPED. even at his young age, he hs not an ounce of fat and he is strong as hell for his size. and, we named him 'gabriel' after God's angel, the one he would send when there was hell to pay; not knowing how aptly it would fit him.
so after they push him, let's just say a can was opened, and four 4th graders got whipped by a kindergarden kid....badly. i get to school, and they had GABRIEL in time out sitting against the wall. the teachers decend on me, all serious, about the 'incident'. they tell me gab beat up some kids. i was concerned, and asked "younger kids?" and they said no, older kids. at this point the lightbulb went off in my head. i called his brother over, and told him to tell me the truth of what happened. out it comes...so i called gab over and asked him what happened. he was on the verge of tears, afraid of what was about to happen as i am a very strick father. so i let him talk, and when he was done i asked him if he hit them first. he said no, they did. i then asked him if he wanted to go straight to dairy queen and have ice cream for supper. he thinks it is a trick, but answered honestly...."yes."
of course the teachers were appauled at my response, i took one step forward, cleared my throat and told them what it was. "everyday it is the same thing. everyday i talk to you all about it. everyday, it happens again." i turned to gabriel and told him next time, break some bones. there was NEVER a problem again. and, he ate two of his favorite ice creams.
****in fact, my avatar is a picture of him after he finished his second one, taken that very day!!!****
