223 barrel with a modified extractor ?
« on: September 21, 2010, 04:57:24 PM »
I just purchased a Handi 223 made in 2005, NV serial prefix. Upon inspection after my purchase I found a set screw on the bottom of the pivot barrel lug. It is on the lower flat and to the rear and close to the extractor. I have several Handi barrels and none have this screw. This extractor has some what of a snap when you open the action, but no ejector. My .308 2006 barrel does not do this.

Was this an added feature by some Gunsmith ? I am not the original owner. This piece has had an action job and tune-up. The trigger is very nice and the barrel to action fit is like a bank vault.

Sorry I do not know how to post pix's, or I would show y'all what it looks like.

What do I have here ?

BTW; what barrel twist might I have ? Hopefully I can shoot heavy bullets.

It's a first generation factory extractor circa 2004-2005, see the FAQs.
