Had to reschedule an appt next week because my specialist doctor apparently celebrates this. This is weird.

Wal now in a way I kinda agree with the wrecked hog in this case. If the doctor knew that date was a holiday he would not be working on why allow appointments to be made for that day to begin with? I don't have a problem with him not wanting to work on a religious holiday for his faith but he shouldn't allow appointments to be set that date to begin with.

wreckhog. Thanks, I didn't know about the sukkot, interesting. I'd change drs. cause ya never know what them sneaky Jews will do to ya. He might put in a self destruct, or a tracking device, maybe even a hidden microphone. Can't trust them Jews ya know. Shame on a man thinking more of God than money. Actually it is a she, it is a week's notice (which is fair) and she offered another appt at a much less convenient time (not that she would know). Of course you never make or change an appt directly with the doc, they have a legion of folks doing that sort of thing.

wreckhog, I'll bet your right on the assistant making the mistake. Unless the assistant was Jewish, probably didn't know about the holiday. I've never heard of it before.
Doctor ought to make it right, and set you up with a quick time. My dentist always makes the first 1/2 hr to hr in the morning for emergency's. If your hurting bad enough, he'll squeeze ya in in the morning. If nobody shows up, he has a coffee and catch's up on paperwork. gypsyman

Well that would be another odd thing. A colleague came in late last week, she is a Unitarian married to a reform Jew, and apologizing because her breath smelled of fish. Umm, OK. She had come from her nephew's breakfast circumcision. Apparently, you have some bagels and lox, watch the circumcision, and go to work. It is a party.

Eh, it happens.  They probably should have not scheduled appointments for that day but offices goof up sometimes.  Particularly if they're in an office with multiple physicians - if they are and they're not all Jewish (or not all celebrating the holiday) then the office itself would still be taking appointments - just not for that doctor. 

Probably just an oversight.  Whatever the doctor wanted the day off for is their own business.  It's depressing though to see a few mock the woman merely because she's Jewish.
