Finally Found a Decent Stevens 110
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:22:06 PM »
Located this sweetheart by accident, sort of.

I was checking the web sites of a few shops that list their used inventory and came across an add for a used Savage 110E in .30-06.  The price was right, listed at $209.  At the next chance I drove out to the store to check it out.  Upon arriving, I asked to see the old Savage and was much surprised when it actually turned out to be an older Stevens 110 with the wood stock and fold down rear sight.  It was in fine shape, showing no signs of abuse.

Now, I know this particular rifle is not considered to be the find of a lifetime, but I've been looking for one in decent condition for sometime to add to the Savage/Stevens family.  Low and behold, it came home with me and now proudly rests among her cousins.

I had one just like it.  Bought it to replace a .30-06 that had been stolen in a house burglary in 1980.  Mine wore a 3x9 Weaver and was very accurate with 165 grain Speers and 180 grain Nosler partitions (shot to the same group).  Had it for about 20 some years and then traded up.  Mine cost $189 brand new in 1980.

Have a 30-06 with a "blond" stock like that third one from the left
