Its finished in time for deer season!
« on: September 23, 2010, 11:12:23 AM »
I got her finished!  Its been a lot of fun building this 375 JDJ.  She likes 220 gr Hornadys.  Shoots them into 3/4" groups at 100 yds.  Only trouble with that is that I only have about 17 left & no one has any. Hornady says they won't have any available untill 10/27!  Now just waiting for deer season to roll around so she can be baptized.

Try to look unimportant.   Your enemy might be low on ammo.

Only Handi so far is a 375 JDJ.

It is a beauty.  If you've got seventeen left, that should be 17 deer.  I don't think you've got that many tags, so ya oughta be ok. ;D

Thanks guys.  The stock is from a chunk off of a black walnut tree form Arkanas that was cut about 30+ years ago.  The barrel is a Shilen stubbed onto a 12 gauge stub.

I just can't wait to shoot a deer with it.  It's also big enough for any big foot that happens by.  ;D

That is one beautiful gun! I am always amazed at how people can do such awesome wood work by hand, I always have to get someone else to do my wood work for me or else it looks like something a 3 year old drew with a crayon. lol

Very Nice job ! It is at the top of the list of Handi rifles. Looks better than anything I have seen from the Custom Shop at Remington, perhaps you could give them some lessons ;D

Wow!  That think looks fantastic.  Can barely tell it's a stub.  I'm usually all about firearms as tools and pretty utilitarian in my approach to them, but it's nice to admire the artistry that goes into something as beautiful as this.  Plus, it looks like it'll get the job done.  Great job!
