  If it is restricted to gun season, they may as well have let it die in committee. IMO such a new law is an exercise in futility, a move by some politician to "do something". I am 74 yrs old, with a bum right shoulder and have interest in bow hunting...by necessity, a crossbow.
If I were to leave my rifle at home and take a crossbow I would have to;

1. Hunt in the cold weather, same as gun season.

2) Wear blaze orange.

3) Compete with rifles.

4) Enter a hunting area already well stirred up in most cases.

    If they want to institute crossbow season especially to attract new hunters, they should have asked themselves:
    Is a crossbow and the hunting style, methods and techniques required, more comparable to hunting with a Matthews compound bow, or with a Ruger in .300 Winchester magnum?

    Failing to understand the differences, the legislature passed a "bandaid"just for a "feel good"effect...like setting someone up with a go-kart, to compete in the Indy 500! how many new hunters will bite on that?

   Looks like selfishness and "turf wars" among some sportsmen have given the antis another win!
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

ironglow your right this bill is a joke, i want to see some one compete against a 30-06 a slug gun etc., imposible 99% of the time, blame the New York state bow hunter association.
