I guess the world we grew up in has changed.
I remember back when even the hardest cursing sailor would change his tone when in the presence of a female.
Now I hear the young girls around the mall use it as much or more than the boys.
I am sure we all let it slip sometimes, but to use it almost every other word is just down right disrespectful.
It really speaks volumns about the person doing it also!
I was brought up to have respect for those around you.

I started to watch a new western series on satellite TV, I love a good western!
I don't recall the name because after the first 15 minutes I turned it off because of all the F words.
It looked like it was going to be a really good series too.
It's a shame that things have changed so much in the world.

Like my avatar states "IF ONLY I COULD GO BACK, I WOULD BE A MOUNTAIN MAN!"

LONGTOM. It all goes back to our supremes closing to door on God in the early 60s. Then satans door was opened wide. Thats how liberals and the hate America crowd was born. YEP, tv used to be enjoyable. Andy Griffith never said a cuss word, nor was there any on the show. Every show had a lesson, a moral to the story.  No matter how stupid Barney got, his best friend Andy was there for him. I miss those days. Now there are STOOOOOPID shows like hells kitchen, can't stand it. I see enough loudmouth, rude, arrogant punks in real life without watching them on tv. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

I am kind of surprised that several of you brought up the Andy Griffith show. It had quite a few leaning to the left and Andy did the horrible compromise thing on a somewhat regular basis.

I agree about David Letterman, Powderman. I would sooner go out and stand in the rain than watch him.

I use too like GreenAcres, The Beverly Hillbillies, The old hawaii 50, Hogan's Heros and The Fugative with David Jansen. Good shows compare to todays garbage. The only thing today watching that is enjoyable to me is Ice Road Truckers, Swamp loggers, Ax men, and the Louisiana swamp gator hunters. Regular network series suck. ;)

Where morals go, you all remember when if a product was compared to a competiter they had to call the competiter brand X? They wouldn't even think of mentioning them by name. lol

You guys have hit on a pet peeve of mine..the garbage on the boob-tube these days. Now, I don't care if someone wants to wallow in that garbage or if somebody wants to wade in sewage up to their waist...Just don't come out and shake like a dog and get it all over me or mine.
The problem is, many people indulge in those septic tank shows and many of the words, phrases and attitudes grow onto them, whether they know it or not. Then the rest of us occasionally have to be 'treated' to a gutter word or two ..or even a whole string of bilge. The rest of us who don't participate in the junk on TV should not be treated to it in normal everyday contacts..it's a matter of class.
Just about 2 hours ago, I was returning from a small town over the hill from my house. I came upon a country crossroads just in time to see two cars come together. car #1 had a middle aged lady and an older lady both injured (1 broken arm, 2 broken legs)..car #2 had a young lady, apparently unhurt. All three were talking up a storm. The young lady explained, "I came up to the corner..and I don't know what to F--- happened". Her speech was peppered with like talk...I figured "she's likely somebody who was weaned on MTV", and just considered the source.

Class is absolutely what it is all about.  We're lucky around here as we now have a channel on broadcast TV channel 21.4 called retro TV or RTV.  Most of my TV watching is done there.  From 7 to 8am is Daniel Boone followed by McHale's Navy.  The evening brings Magnum PI then Jack Benny.  Weekends are filled with Wagon Train, Black Sheep Squadron, The Rifleman, and so on.

I went to a funeral a while back of a BF of a lady I used to work with. Tony was hit head on and killed by a guy on meth who crossed the center line. His gf kept repeating his last words. WHAT THE F . Wouldn't want to meet my maker with those being my last words. The language on tv is terrible and getting worse. I used to work with some younger folks who really were bad when mgt or a customer was not around. I let them know I did not want to hear gutter talk and would not listen to it. Most seemed shocked, I guess they thought they were cool. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

The pitiful part is that often these youngsters who have a 'garbage mouth', don't even seem aware that they do have a reprehensible habit. So often I have seen an attractive woman who presents a comely appearance..but when her mouth opens and such ugliness spills out, she turns grotesquely ugly..on the spot.  Equal oportunity; same goes for a young man who acts the same.. :D ;D

Now those are some good TV programs.  We got so disgusted with the crap on cable we decided to pull the plug.  Other than the occasional Discovery program, NASCAR on FOX Sports and the Food Network (Wife's favorite) we didn't feel that there was anything worth paying $45 a month to watch on cable.   We signed up for NETFLIX and watch the movies we want to watch when we want to watch them.

There were some real great ones !
But few ever reached the status of Red Skelton. As I remember he gave two Royal Performances in London at the request of Oueen Elizabeth, I saw both of those on TV! He was great!!

In another tv show he had Martha Raye as his special guest. They had a scene in a living where Red was replacing a light bulb in the ceiling. Martha Raye was standing there  talking to Red who was up on a high platform trying to replace a light bulb. The front doorbell rang and Martha went to answer the door. Well the door was supposed to open! She could not get the door to open, and she looked at Red and started to laughing and said the door want open! Red said ( adlibinning) come over here I think I have a key in my front pocket. All this time Red is still acting like he is replacing the lightbulb. Martha Raye comes over to where Red is and Red tells her to get the key out of his right front pants pocket! She reaches up to put her hand into Red`s front pocket. As she does this she says" I feel crazy doing this"! And Red says "Feel a little a deeper and you will feel nuts"!!

Well the tv screen went black and stayed off for about 30 seconds with the audio with nothing but heavy laughter . Finally the screencame back on and Red and Martha were sitting on the couch laughing with tears in their eyes and all Red could finally say was " God Bless" and the show ended!
Now that was funny!

A short time before his death I was on a plane to Palm Springs and Red happen to be on the same flight.
 A great guy!
