Just wondering if anyone has replaced a loading gate spring in a model 83. On occation my loading gate snaps open will firing it. I've talked to John at Freedom Arms and he believes the loading gate spring is the problem. He sent me one out in the mail today and said it would save me a bunch of money if I replaced it myself and if not I could have a local gunsmith install it. Has anyone installed one before and if so could you lend a helping hand in walking me through it. Thanks

I've not dealt with this revolver before but as a rule single actions are quite similar. The link below will get you to a page with  a downloadable manual. If you have some good fitting screwdrivers and a bit of gunnsmithing skill this is likely something you can do yourself. Tools should be pretty common for this change out..
