Scout scope
« on: September 27, 2010, 05:48:20 PM »
Has anyone ever tried to mount a long-eye-relief scope on a 760/7600? I have a 30-06 carbine with a standard 3-9 variable, and I'd love to remove it and use a Scout scope or the like, so that it can be carried with one hand. It's my bear gun, so it's typically not a 150-yard weapon anyway.
Forget about the danger....think of the fun!

I've got one (a leupi 2.5x) on a Ruger #1 in 45/70 and it's just perfect.  I suspect it will work just as well on a 760/7600 but you may need to change a few things.  Since it needs 9-13" of eye relief, you'll most probably need off set rings or an extended base of some sort so that you can mount it out further.  I bought 2 pair of Leupold offset rings and used the extended ring from each set (on a #1 the front and rear rings are the same height).  I also needed a bit more length so I put a 1" limbsaver on and everything lined up just perfect.

Good Luck!
