ZOMBIE GUN!!!!
« on: September 27, 2010, 09:00:24 PM »
This was actually a stevens 10ga but thought you guys might get a kick out of it.  It started life as a long barreled 10ga but after a plugged barrel blew out the front half of the barrel the guy decided to cut id down and put a pistol grp on it.  AFter cutting it back it was a hair too short to be legal so had to pin an extra large muzzle break to the end to bring it back to legal length.  Took it out and shot it the other day and it was a blast.  Using 3.5" BBB loads it prints a group of around 6' at 50 yards and 30" or so at 20.  Recoil wasn't bad and it was a lot of fun. Its not terribly practical but is really neat and a lot of fun to play around with.  We figured it looked like something you would see the hero using in a zombie movie so started calling it the zombie gun.

I liked this thing so much I'm keeping my eyes out for one to make for myself.  If nothing else its a great conversation piece in the gunshop.

Wow !  Get some slugs and go hunting!  If the slug doesn't hit them the blast will give them heart failure.

If you could figure out a way to bolt that to an AR15, you might have something.

I bet some sort of rail to rail setup wouldnt be hard to do

Iwas thinking a really big spiked muzzle break minding like a mace or maybe a big cleaver shaped bayonet would be cool looking.

Check your state laws they all vary some.  Here it's illegal unless it has a folding stock and overall length folded is 26".  8(

Dunno about mounting under an AR, but I'ld bet it could mount up under a levergun pretty smoothly without the whole thing being terribly long (cause you don't have to put it ahead of a magazine well, you only have to clear the lever). I'ld lose the pistol grip and kinda just blend it back to the rifle's profile.

Practical applications? Naw, but mounted to another gun, you only have to worry about barrel length as overall length should be enough and you can shoot pretty much anything you want out of it without it automatically becoming a destructive device (unlike flareguns). I'm sure it could do wonders in a long hallway, but i don't want to be in that situation.

The BATF frowns on pinned on barrel extensions to make an illegal barrel a legal length. It has to be welded or silver soldered to legally make it under federal law.

don't worry we know all about the batf, pinned, welded and ground to fit.  Your not getting this thing off without cutting the barrel, period.  Its as legal as they come.

that looks like a fun shooter build out of a busted gun  . not real practical , but im sure its fun to shoot . is that bipod attached or there to hold it up for the photo ?  would be neat to get a scabbard that fit it .

Want one, guys? Find an old Stevens or Savage 94 in a pawn shop with a good receiver and then order a 10ga barrel from Numrich to fit the 94. Make sure that you cut the barrel no shorter than 22in. with the pistol grip stock and like they said make damn sure the overall length is 26in. PLUS. Hunman55-Archie. I THINK these barrels are still available.

we built it.  Its not hard to make a muzzle break.  The next one that are going to make will have spiks coming off the muzzle break so it will look kinda like a mace.

THe recoil brake is very effective.  I have shot it several times and its not too bad, just hold it tight to your side.  The noise isn't too bad either, its a gun so its still loud but nothing worth writing home about.
