kansas area 18
« on: September 28, 2010, 09:40:43 PM »
I've got a buddy that lives near Liberal which is in area 18 and he's been after me for years to come out and visit/hunt.My question is. How is the deer hunting in that area ? What are my chances to draw a buck permit (whitetail or muley) for a non-resident ? I'd really like to take a muley but i know thats even harder to draw.

Should be a great place to go.Never hunted there, but have seen some pretty nice deer driving thru that area.Don't know how many non resident permits are out for that area.Sorry could help too much.I live in Wichita and never go too far west of here to hunt.

You will not be able to draw a mulie this year (the draw is over and there are no leftovers for the "stamp").

I'd think you'd need at least one preference point, maybe more.  You can check the details on the KDWP website here:

You will probably draw a whitetail tag without much trouble next year.  There are no leftovers now, but there was after the draw.
