Sadly that perp is prolly going to get a financial settlement for getting run over by the officer.

I've been busy this evening and haven't had time to research it, but we can likely find out if he did or didn't - the video was posted back in 2006.

If it was intentional, I certainly agree.  It does appear that the field was wet and muddy though and there was mention that the truck was sliding with the cop trying to brake.  If that's REALLY true (not wink, wink, nudge, nudge "true", but the actual truth), then I can understand that as being unavoidable.

you know, when the cops tell you to stop and you start to run, i believe at that point they should just shoot you....and not in the leg.    i am all for keeping control of police, but if you are going to ask them to do the job, dont tie their hands behind their backs while they are doing it.   same thing for our soldiers.
keep in mind, we have no idea what exactly the guy did.   i am sick and tired of seeing thugs walk and get away with this crap.   if you are running from the police, dont expect ANY sympathy from me.

Unless he was just observed killing someone or was an escaped murderer there was no excuse for the behavior of the cop. Put me down on the side of he sure be fired.

He was wanted. He hadn't stood trial yet, and he had not been convicted.  Cops have a duty to apprehend suspects so that they may stand trial, and through trial and conviction by jury is the only method by which punishment can (and should) be dealt out.  Until determined guilty by a jury of your peers, you are innocent.

As said, I can only accept this as OK if it truly was just an accident.  Otherwise, it's not up to a cop to determine how to punish a suspect.  They're there to do a specific job, not indulge themselves on a power trip.

Looks intentional to me..........Look at the video! The tires were turned in his direction, and turning as he struck him. It would appear death by truck for suspected purse snatchers is justified by some on this forum.

Yea! I know it didn't kill him, but it could have, and some of you think that would be justified :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

what do you suppose the chances are that the truck had anti-lock brakes on it?  pretty good.
even so, if the man says stop, and you dont, no sympathy from me.  if i run from the police i fully expect that they will do what they need to do to take me into custody.  and if you resist, the odds of getting injured go way up.

and if i run from the police, i would fully expect something bad like that, maybe even worse, to happen.  whining about it afterwards seems silly to me.
now if the guy would have been standing there, with his hands up obviously surrendering, i could understand your concern.

Well, if we were honest it does show that area had lots room around the guy, I would have to say with that much area to drive in the officer may not have been real worried about getting too close with the car, got to wonder why. I mean where was the guy going to go really?  It's true the first reaction is the guy had it coming, but the main reason you don't want your police doing this to a common thug, is because they have, and will make mistakes and could go after someone innocent and do the same things to them. They have. Might have been better for the police force if the lady who lost her purse ran the dude down and they just filled out the report.  I can handle that just fine. Anything you let an officer do to "them" they can do to you or anyone anytime, have to be careful what you allow, and the attitudes you allow officers to have.  Just my 2 cents.

What is it you don't get about a criminal.
I don't care if a criminal has any rights or not---they should not have any.
I don't care if this guy got all bunged up.
I wish he had got more bunged up.
Backhoes were invinted for guys like this.
Yes! I sleep very well.

The cop should have put it in reverse, burned out over him, then put it in drive and burned out over him again
just for good measure. Sorry. No sympathy for this maggot.

I don't like the idea of police running over anyone. They're supposed to apprehend, not punish, for those saying the guy deserved it. If we're going to go with street justice... perhaps for consistency's sake, allow citizens the same leeway in dealing with patronizing & abusive LEOs/gov't officials? Hmmmm?
